Jesmond Dene House – Newcastle

Early Evening Menu Jesmond Dene House Review

One of my favourite places to dine in Newcastle is Jesmond Dene House. Whether it is for a formal meal, light lunch or even just a coffee, it always hits the spot and the service is second to none.

The grand hotel has increased its dining options by recently introducing a fixed price early evening special menu with an incredibly reasonable 2 courses for £20.50 and 3 for £24.50 5pm – 7pm.

White Monk Tea Room – Blanchland

White Monk Tea Room Blanchland Review

This is a revisit review for us today of the White Monk Tea Room. As one of our all time favourite places to go for a drive and a bit of fresh air, Blanchland is not only the prettiest little place you ever did see, but they also have a cracking tea room AND a very nice pub.

Karbon Grill – Sunderland

Karbon Grill Sunderland Review

Walking in to Karbon Grill, you could easily be in an upscale Manhattan restaurant rather than slap bang opposite the Sunderland football ground! The Miners Arms, Medomsley, Consett

The Miners Arms Medomsley Review

Unless you are from certain part of Durham, the only time you have probably heard of Medomsley is it being the home of the ill fated Phileas Fogg crisps from yesteryear that revamped not that long ago.  Hopefully after you read this review, you’ll know that Medomsley is the home to a cracking country pub that you must visit called The Miners Arms.

A La Turka, Birtley

A La Turka, Birtley

I was dubious when a less than reputable pub in Birtley was transformed in to a Turkish restaurant but since A La Turka has opened, the reviews have just been consistently good. That was enough for us to pay a visit.

A La Turka is in the old William IV pub on Durham Road opposite Komatsu. There isn’t any onsite parking available but there is other parking available close by and I guess a lot of customers will be local and within walking distance – lucky them!
