Rossopomodoro – Newcastle

Rossopomodoro Newcastle Review

If you are of a certain age from Newcastle, you’ll remember the circular restaurant hovering above the centre of Eldon Square and then its subsequent move to a mezzanine terrace in the same spot. I am sadly old enough to remember the move to the terrace which is now the location of the all new restaurant in John Lewis – Rossopomodoro.

Chiquito – Durham

Chiquito Durham Review

We love Mexican food but it is really one of those cuisines that is woefully under represented in the area. In Durham we have 2 restaurants. 1 independent, 1 chain, 1 better than the other. With that in mind, we took ourselves off to Chiquito to sample what their fresh new menu had on offer.

On a gloriously sunny Saturday we had the rare British dilemma of sitting outside to dine or sitting inside – inside won but for those warmer summer days, there are seats outside on the terrace.

The Great British Cupcakery, Newcastle

The Great British Cupcakery Review

hereA couple of weeks ago, I visited the Great British Cupcakery for the first time with fellow blogger Vicky. It is one of those places I only ever seem to be in the vicinity of when it is closed so you can imagine when both of our days off lined up and we jumped at the chance to pay a visit. We actually we ate our way around Newcastle in the same day but that’s a different story!

Cabana Brasilian Barbecue – Newcastle

Cabana Brasilian Barbecue Restaurant Newcastle Review

Another new kid on the block has arrived in Newcastle – Cabana – a Brasilian Barbecue restaurant. If the Viva Brazil Churrascaria style doesn’t appeal to you, then you must try Cabana. A full menu to choose from and an even fuller cocktail menu!

After a £17 million renovation of the old Co-Op building, Cabana finds itself at home in a prime piece of Toon real estate next to the Gate and of course Eldon Square.

We were lucky enough to visit the restaurant prior to it’s official opening to preview the menu so read on for our thoughts….
