My favourite all time Sleek palette is Storm. I’ve always felt it to be a strong opponent, in my eyes to the Naked palette by Urban Decay, with a perfect mix of glitzy neutrals to bold matte darks which combined together in a 12 pan palette gives you a HUGE choice of looks, from day to night and anywhere in between. It’s the palette I most often reach for. It does everything.
I was happily in love in my relationship with Storm until the pretty new palette came along to tempt me in to cheating on Storm!
Oh So special is a beautiful mix of delicate lights and bold wearable darks in the usual combination of shimmer and matte that we all come to love and expect. Light pretty day looks, strong bold night time party looks, you have it all here in the one palette. This is definitely a budget contender for Nakeds’crown and I’d rather re-buy 5 Sleeks’ than 1 Urban Decay one right?!
I’ve been using this most days since I picked it up and it’s perfect. A matte for the brows, a neutral to highlight and several soft lid colours for a work appropriate look… then when it hits 5pm and it’s party time after work, a quick flick of the darker shades in the crease and you have a sultry dark look to take you in to the wee hours of party time.
For £6.49 what else would give you such versatility? I can’t think of anything, espcially when it works out to be 54p a shadow. The cheapest other eyeshadow on the market that I am aware of are MUA and although they are indeed bigger in size for their £1 price (which are also awesome – check them out) you don’t get the ease and portability or even variety as you do with the Sleek Palette offerings. It makes financial sense, in these budgeting times!
If you’re looking for a new every day set of looks, stuck in a make up rut or just like to hoard Sleek Palettes like I do then this one is definitely for you!
Here’s my run down on the shades :
1. Bow – Super light pink bordering on white shadow. Great for inner eyes and brow bones. A bit chalky – Matte
2. Organza – A rose gold delicate pink. Buildable colour. Slightly duochromatic. Shimmer
3. Ribbon – A salmon pink, again, chalky and a bit tricky to blend but good colour pay off. Matte
4. Gift Basket – Chocolatey rich bronze. Shimmer
5. Glitz – A black tinged teal. Looks gunmetal grey in the pan. Shimmer
6. Celebrate – A black tinged purple / aubergine. Slightly shot with gold fleck with the purple. Shimmer
7. Pamper – A pale baby pink. Again, chalky and quite sheer. Matte
8. Gateau – A gold tinged lilac shade. Super pretty and almost duochromatic on the lid
9. The Mail – A light tan biscuit shade. Very delicate but super useful as a base and to help blending. Barely shows up on me Matte
10. Boxed – Neutral dark taupe / brown. Perfect for brows or soft shadow lining. Matte
11. Wrapped Up – Grey tinged mauve. Great alternative to black for a smokey eye. Matte
12. Noir – needs to explaining. A flat black shadow. Great for lining and crease colour. Matte.

I’ll hold my hands up now ladies… this blush scares me! I had visions of me putting it on and turning in to one of those orange faced chavs – Yuk! The packaging is divine though, so cute and bright. I love it!
As usual the blush packaging features a great distortion free mirror which is great for topping up blush and other make up on the go.
The blush itself is a bold vivid orange. It couldn’t be confused with anything else, it’s a definite orange! To be fair, it’s only a few small notches up from the Pan Tao blush which is an orange peach itself.
When swatched the blush comes out to a powdery pigmented finish but I have found it to be crazy hard to blend out. I’ve not really had this problem with the other Sleek blushes, this is by far the hardest to work with so far. Even with a super light hand, you need to work the blush in and make sure it’s blended perfectly. It’s really not one of those perfect blushes you can just ‘throw on’ and it looks fab.

The way I like to wear mine is over the top of a bronzer and tan blush, just to add a bit of colour to the cheeks to stop them looking a little flat. Maybe with a tan or on darker skinned lovelies you could work it out on its own but I think for fair skins it could just be way OTT. I am willing to be proven wrong though if anyone has any pictures of them wearing it?
As the blush is so highly pigmented, I only ever need to lightly tap my brush on top of the pan, rather than sweeping it over. It gives the perfect light wash of colour without having to deal with the powdery fall out.
All in all, I’m glad I bought this. I think I’ll get a lot more wear out of it once I have a tan as it is just a volumised version of Pan Tao (in my opinion anyway), and for £4.30, it’s a great colour to have in your collection.

After Glossy Box recently burst on to the UK scene with rave reviews on the first box, I was keen to jump on the bandwagon. I of course apparently missed the deadline for the June box so I am still sitting waiting for my 1st box despite paying weeks and weeks ago! Hmmph!
I’m quite glad I didn’t get the 2nd box as from what I can gather everyone was pretty unhappy about what they’d pay for, namely the mini can of Batiste. Now every girl needs a can, but it’s not exactly the high end luxe product everyone had been promised now is it.
Combining the shaky 2nd reviews with a new price hike (an additional £2.95 for postage) for 5 middle of the road product samples seems to be a bit expensive. £2.95 would be understandable if you were getting 5 full size bottles of product but for some sachets and minis? It does seem excessive.
I will certainly be basing any potential outlay on my first box so lets hope it’s a good one. I love small travel size products as I travel a lot, the Glossy Box concept is one that appeals as I get to stock up on mini’s but I also get to try a lot of products that I wouldn’t normally have access to on a highstreet or wouldn’t want to risk trying in a full size with my sensitive skin.
Hot on the heels of the Glossy Box is Boudoir Privé a new contender for the luxury sampling crown. For your £10 monthly fee you will be receiving 6, yes 6, ‘deluxe-sized’ samples. So automatically you are getting an extra 1 item above and beyond the Glossy Box offering.
The online buzz is growing about Boudoir Privé being potentially being better than Glossy Box so as I am yet to receive my first GB, I was eager to jump on the Boudoir Privé bandwagon, just in case like Glossy Box, the subsequent quality of parcels detoriates I can atleast say I was in there at the beginning! The name alone has a bit more sophistication than Glossy Box. I’m a sucker for a seductive product name!
You can register for the Boudoir Privé boxes over on their website : HERE even the sign up page looks pretty!
I bought this liptstick on a whim while I was ordering my Oh So Special Palette (review to come soon) and from the website it looked like a gorgeous coral tinged peach. Perfect for the summer and work friendly too. Knowing the quality and pigmentation of Sleek products I had high hopes of a great lipstick at a bargainous price!
When the lipstick arrived I was seriously shocked at how small it was. The packaging is tiny! I did partially feel ripped off on the price vs size front but once I rolled the bullet out it was clear the product wasn’t as dinky as the tube suggested! The lipstick itself is housed in an oval tube with a matte black almost rubberised feel to it which reminded me of the GOSH lipsticks. The Sleek True Colour logo was barely visible on the tube with the naked eye, which made trying to take a picture of it quite tricky (I lack perservereance y’see!) The logo was reminiscent of the i-Divine Palettes, the way they feature black on black logos.
You can just about make out the logo on this picture |
The colour is a warm orange based coral peach tone and the bullet looks decidedly waxy. The product actually goes on to give a super soft milky sheen with highly pigmented colour.
The sheen does dry out quite quickly on my lips to leave a more matte finish but it makes a fab base for the Bonaire or Sugar May pout polish, especially the latter as I find it far too sheer to wear alone.

For all the lipstick is beautifully pigmented and it would lovely on someone with a paler natural lip colour but on me I don’t know how much wear I’ll get from this as a lipstick, the milky texture is just too apparent on my lips which makes them look a bit gross. I will definitely use it as a base for the pout polishes as they really eradicate the milky tones.
Look how milky it looks on my inner lip line – not nice at all! |
Even though my first foray in to True Colour lipsticks has been slightly disappointing, that’s totally down to my choice of colours. I know I will definitely be picking up a few more in the future… I may however only buy them from the concession stand so that I can swatch before buying.
Like nail varnish websites, I still think actual swatches would be so beneficial for buying online. Whether it’s a smear on a hand or a snap of a models lips. I know it will boost costs and time up on the brands part but as a consumer, I’d just totally love to see it.
