Showing the Love, with Links of London

Showing the Love, with Links of London

Hello Lovelies,

I’m just dipping my toes back in to the website water gently. If you have read my previous post about facing adversity, you’ll know why. Please do take a second to read it. I know I don’t usually post such personal content but I felt brave.

I wanted to show you what I recently gave my Mam though. I bought her the 20-20 Interlocking necklace from Links of London. I searched high and low for a sentimental gift to give to her to symbolise our changing family unit, love and solidarity. Flowers didn’t seem right, and she’s not the heart pendant kinda woman.

Each of the interlocked rings is made up of 3 thinner rings to mirror the Links of London logo but they are so fitting for our situation. On one side, the 3 rings could be for me, Mam and Dad and the other interlocked ring is for me, Mam and Paul… both solidly interlocked, for me and Mam.

So you see, I couldn’t find anything that was any more compellingly perfect for the gesture I wanted to convey. The sales girl, in the House of Fraser in Gateshead was an absolute sweetheart too which made the whole buying process that little bit more special. As usual with Links products, the presentation was gorgeous, which made the giving of the gift that little bit more magical.

Thanks to starting my new job, waiting for 7 weeks to be paid and going on holiday, my funds are somewhat depleted and I only had enough to comfortably buy her a necklace, because lets face it, £125 for a silver necklace is expensive, but hell, my Mam is worth it and certainly deserves it. Once I get paid, I think I will go back and buy myself one to match too.

She absolutely loves it and filled up when I gave her it, she was touched by the sentimnetality. Mission success!

All my love

I’m leaving….. on a jet plane

I’m leaving….. on a jet plane

Hello Lovelies,

If you follow me on Twitter you’ll know how excited I’ve been of late to go on holiday, well it’s today! Huzzah!

Mr Tramp and I are jetting off to Italy, quite literally as I speak (joys of scheduled posts eh!) and then as soon as I am back, I am away for work so I have tried to get as many posts lined up as I can to keep you all entertained!

Luckily the apartment has wifi so I should be able to check in on Twitter so feel free to follow me for hideously cheesey holiday snaps of hubs and I gurning away round Italy!

We are flying out form from Heathrow T5 so I have been ‘allowed’ to shop at the Mulberry shop as long as Mr T can spend some of his birthday pennies in Mappin & Webb, World of Whiskey and the Cigar shop. Boys *rolls eyes*

Anyways, I shall leave you all while I go stuff as much pizza in to my face as I possibly can 😉

MUA Going for Gold Palette

MUA Going for Gold Palette

Hello Lovelies,

After my recent post HERE on the amazing Undressed palette from MUA, they have released a great Olympics themed palette called Going for Gold.

Having bright blue eyes, I always like to enhance them even further by wearing golds and bronzes so this is right up my street! With the inclusion of the silvers and steel greys, it means I can make up some really different eye looks rather than relying on blacks to do smokey eyes.

As ever with MUA eyeshadows, the formulation is creamy soft and super highly pigmented. Just what I have come to expect from their high standard of product!

Not only is this a great price (£4) but the shadows are actually bigger than in the usual palettes too!

I don’t actually think I have anything else to say about this palette to be honest, it’s just another great, high quality palette from MUA which is one of the best low cost, high quality high street brands at the minute. I just truly hope they don’t follow suit with Sleek and get too big for their boots then hike the price of the palettes right up as that would be a crying shame, it really would.

Available in Superdrug stores or via the MUA online site directly HERE, the Going for Gold palette retails at £4 and I highly recommend you go out and buy it… now.

Will you be watching the Olympics this year? What’s your favourite event?

It’s love… and love is Marc Jacobs shaped

It’s love… and love is Marc Jacobs shaped

Hello Lovelies,

I’m generally not one for designer jewellery as I so sporadically wear it, I see it as an required waste of money but every so often, something will pop up and call my name and I can’t resist buying it. Usually Vivienne Westwood necklaces or my last splurge was indeed my Marc Jacobs earrings I blogged about HERE.

While trawling the interwebs to find myself something to mark my new job, I deviated from my usual searches of handbag sections and in to accessories and there I fell in love!

And if it wasn’t gorgeous enough, what’s the model name I hear you ask? It’s Katie, Marc Jacobs has actually called a bracelet Katie! It would be rude not to buy it, right? Much like I got suckered in to buying an unflattering Illamasqua blush just because that too was called Katie! It’s a habit!

I’m torn though ladies! This beautiful bracelet comes in either a hot pink & gold colour way or an all rose gold colour way. I am absolutely torn!

Problem is, I know I probably won’t wear either one enough to warrant the splurge but it is gorgeous, it’s named after me and I deserve a treat!

Revlon Photoready Perfecting Primer

Revlon Photoready Perfecting Primer

Hello Lovelies,

Recently, I have been trying to embrace a wider range of high street make up brands that I would never normally use. Today’s turn is Revlon and it’s Photoready Perfecting Primer.

As we all know, even the longest lasting foundation doesn’t stand a chance without a base. My usual primers of choice are quite silicone based with lots of slip to allow me to achieve a flawless, buffed finish to the skin without feeling caked. I’m quite picky though, sometimes a primer is too slippy and when combined with a ‘dewy’ foundation I feel like my face is running down my neck sometimes, if you know what I mean?

The Photoready looks quite unassuming in the bottle. A milky white colour with a gel / cream hybrid texture. 2 small pumps from the hygenic dispenser has my face covered but not overloaded. I think 1 pump would be too sparse, but great if you only want to target your T zone.

Odourless and non sticky, the product glides and soaks in quickly leaving perfectly plumped, primed skin. I don’t have any major areas of concern with my facial skincare so I can’t comment on whether it works well with enlarged pores and wrinkles BUT it does give the most gorgeous velvety finish I’ve seen from a highstreet primer and I’ve sampled quite a few.

I picked this primer up while it was on offer in Boots with £3 off. It does sit in the higher price end for high street primers but when compared to L’oreals £14 tiny offering, this is huge old bottle which makes the unit price seem a little better.

Would I repurchase this primer at full price? No, I’d like to try other brands from the high street. Would I buy it again on offer? Without shadow of a doubt. My make up lasted all day without any oxidisation, slip or dulling and it provided a flawless base for both my ‘dewy’ foundations as well as matte formulas which I often find cloying.

You can pick up the Revlon Photoready Perfecting Primer at any good Revlon concession stand.

Do you use a high street primer? What brand do you recommend I try next?
