A pocket money challenge……

Hello Lovelies,

Recently, I was asked to take part in a fantastic MoneySuperarket challenge which involved celebrating those little moments in life when you find that spare £5 in the back pocket of your purse or the extra £1 you needed to pay for your takeaway down the back of the sofa.

My husband, Mr Tramp, is an inherent saver but I am a bugger for spending every single penny I have and I love nothing more than spoiling my loved ones.

In the vein of this challenge, I knew instantly what I wanted to spend my £20 ‘loose change’ on. I wanted to spoil my Mother and give her a gift she wouldn’t buy herself or even think of. If you remember, I bought her the gorgeous Links of London necklace back in September too.

I scoured discount code websites and finally found a great online discount for printer canvas photos. I used www.photobox.co.uk to make a photo canvas of a photo of my Dad & I from my wedding day for my Mam to keep as a momento now that my Dad is no longer with us.

I know my Mam doesn’t have that many photos of the family together but I thought this was a great idea and very, very touching. Don’t you agree?

The canvas hasn’t arrived back yet so I can’t show you the actual finished article but I will show you a snippet of the photo used.

What would you spend £20 on? Treat yourself? Treat someone else? Save it for a rainy day?

Let me know what you’d do and what you think of my gift!

Secret Santa goodies….

Secret Santa goodies….

Hello Lovelies,

I hope you all had a most rocking Christmas, I know I certainly did! I’m finally getting that much needed relaxation time.. not that i’ve done one single relaxing thing like but you know what I mean!

I know a lot of people are quite against Christmas present haul posts but you know what, it’s my website and it’s my rules! I like reading them because i’m A. nosy and B. They actually tell you a lot about a person.

As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, I have been taking part in MoneySupermarket’s Secret Santa scheme. A selection of bloggers were each given a token amount and a name from a hat to buy presents for.

I lucked out, I had the fantabulous Rai from BlargleFargle (go, go check her website out now!) I was a bit worried that i’d get paired up with someone who’s style was totally different to mine which can lead to a bit of a present panic but I had nothing to worry about!

My lovely gift from Rai was a pair of fingerless mittens, an Anatomicals handcream and, drum roll please, a Ciate Velvet Manicure set.

Now, Rai must be bloody psychic because she hand picked (geddit?) these goodies for me just after I had my nail extensions done to try and perk up 2 very rough looking abused paws! Perfect timing!

The mittens are perfect, with my nails being so long, I struggle to find gloves for my already long fingers so these haven’t left my coat pocket since I received them!

The Anatomicals hand cream is delicious, it smells of light and fresh grapefruit which is a really comforting change from the other “winter” fragrances that fill the shops at this time of year. As with all Anatomicals products, look passed the gimmicky names and you are treated to a rich, thick luxurious handcream that sinks in fast and nourishes those pesky dry bits! It’s a nice neat sleek size so this shall be living in my handbag!

And moving on to the piece de resistance, the velvet manicure kit from Ciate. I wanted to try this since it was launched but seeing as my nails were much shorter, I never got round to it. Again, perfect timing Rai, thank you! In a gorgeous navy blue colour, this will look great as an alternative to black nails so I have been saving this as a treat for New Years Day manicure! I will do a full review on the kit once I have used it.

I have been spoiled with these gifts and like I’ve already said, couldn’t have come at a better time.

I’d like to thank Rai and MoneySupermarket.

Secret Santa fun times!

Secret Santa fun times!

Hello Lovelies,

I’m not going to lie, my blogging has been somewhat sporadic this last 3 months and with Christmas coming up, it’s not entirely a happy time for me, Mr Tramp or Mother Tramp but there’s one thing that has dragged me out of my grump and that’s Secret Santa!

HUZZAH! I hear you cry!

This year I have teamed up with Money Supermarket to take part in their blogger secret santa scheme. We have each been given a token amount and one hot to trot fellow blogger to buy for and set the task of surprising our blogbuddy.

I was quite worried about the kind of blogger i’d be paired with (I’m so not high fashion) but I love the lady’s style I have so I think I can find something pretty rocking for her (famous last words?)

So with this….. I am hotfooting it off on a journey round the interwebs to buy some kickass christmas presents!

Keep safe my lovelies!

A Spook-tacular night with Red Herring Games & Radisson Blu

A Spook-tacular night with Red Herring Games & Radisson Blu

Happy Halloween my not-so-gruesome ghouls ,

Last Friday, Mother Tramp and I took ourselves along to our local Radisson Blu hotel for their Halloween themed Murder Mystery night. When I first saw this advertised I was gutted I couldn’t go as I would be in New York but through a cruel twist of fate, I found myself at a free end as a result of a cancelled holiday. What better way to cheer me and Mam up eh?
I have been to a few of these events before but as it was my Mams first time, it was super exciting all over again. It also helped that the excelled Red Herring Games were running the event (@redherringgames).

We were greeted by witches and ghosts and of course, trick or treat sweet goodies, props and of course, a dead body – Poor Seymour! The cast of actors thoroughly immersed themselves in to their characters and I must say, Inspector Dirk N Stormy was rather handsome – He can arrest me any day! Ooo-er!
As the evening progressed around the 3 course meal, we were given 5 scenes to watch to base our suspicions on and then given the chance to interact with the actors to grill them for their motives. Now I must admit, I’ve never got a murderer right yet, I think I have too much of an overactive imagination but this time, BOOM! Mam and I sniffed out the culprit and won! Couldn’t believe it! Super Sleuths, although I think we are more like Monk than Sherlock Holmes!
As a proud winner, we were given a great big huge certificate and a bottle of wine! If I had known this before, I’d have put more effort in to trying to win previous ones!
The function room was set up with 13 large tables seating around 10 people each so it’s a great fun night out if you are looking for something to do with colleagues or a birthday. The organisational skills of the Radisson staff do leave a LOT to be desired but needless to say we managed to rescue our evening and of course… we went on to win! Huzzah! Don’t worry about not being able to hear the action, this is the first event I have been to that I have seen microphones and mic packs used by the actors, a very professional touch and it really helped everyone be involved without missing a single word!

The obligatory Monster Mash end to the evening!
This isn’t the first time I have been to a Red Herring Games night and it certainly wont be the last. The effort and thought that goes in to each of these ‘plays’ is just outstanding and well worth the cost of the evening.
At the Radisson, I paid £29 per person which included a 3 course meal and the entertainment, as well as a disco afterwards. My only slight criticism (other than the lack lustre organisation) was the lack of dialogue with the waiting staff. They didn’t tell us what food they were giving us, whether it was vegetarian or not etc. Now the pea and ham soup was some of the most delicious I have ever had, but the beef, well I think it was beef was just.. blah. The accompaniments were a bit blah too. I would have liked to have been told of a vegetarian offering. Probably just small niggles after working as a chef and expecting high standards from the Radisson.
Of course, the venue was nothing to do with the quality of the event provided by Jo and her players.
If you ever get the chance to go to a Red Herring evening (check their website for events) or any other murder mystery, I whole heartedly recommend you book up. They are a fantastic night of fun!
My only advice is… do your research. Find out who is performing and have a quick squizz for some reviews on them!

Enjoy the rest of your Halloween!

An update from me….

An update from me….

Hello Lovelies,

Thank you all, again, so much for the love, compassion and support most of my gorgeous, loyal readers have shown me over the last 4-6 weeks. I have tried my best to respond to each and ever tweet, comment or email.

It has been awe inspiring and deeply moving that complete strangers, friends new and old, have sent their love and well wishes to me, my husband and my family at our time of greatest need.

I’m feeling MUCH much better in myself now. Obviously, the grief of losing my Dad is still pretty raw but i’m back to “normal” now, if you know what I mean.

I am just about ready to get my blogging back on after my extended leave of absence.

I have LOTS to show you, tell you and talk about!  Mostly about digging a 4ft deep hole… but that is definitely reserved for another day!

I have been working on lots of new ideas for the website so I hope you all can bear with me just a tinsy bit longer and stick round to see what’s coming up soon.

Truly, all my love and kisses right back to you all.

K
