John Frieda Beach Blonde Cool Dip Shampoo and Smooth Seas Detangling Conditioner

John Frieda Beach Blonde Smooth Seas Detangling Conditioner Cool Dip Purifying Shampoo 1

Being a blonde, it is always a nerve wracking time slipping in to a swimming pool filled with Chlorine. Will my highlights go green? While my blonde go sludgy? Will it feel like straw? All common concerns!

I haven’t been overly impressed with anti chlorine products, least of all ones aimed at blondes. I always prefer to use non specialised products. That is until I tried the new John Frieda Beach Blonde range. Not that the range is new, it was much loved and then sadly discontinued. Fear not, it is BACK!

Denise Mcadam Miracle Repair with Argan Oil

Denise Mcadam Miracle Repair with Argan Oil

Hello Lovelies,

When I spotted this bargainous little pot in Tesco a few weeks ago, I snapped up a bottle with mixed feelings. I was hoping it lived up to the standard of Denise’s other products but at the same time, could a <£2 Argan Oil product actually be good?

You might remember it from this post here, where I gave you all a heads up on this bargain

Well I needn’t have worried.

Yes, the weird cat photo is back!

After washing and conditioning, I apply 2-3 light pumps to the ends of my hair, working it up through my mid sections. The ends of my hair are the most porous so they get the most attention. I finish up with running my hands lightly over the top of my hair to sparingly distribute whatever product is left on my hands.

Drying with this product in is a doddle. The ends are super smooth, sleek and glossy and the brush just glides on through. I have noticed a better finished result with this serum than I usually do with Moroccan Oil, despite using it religiously.

Using my Babyliss Big Hair, the ends are more defined and soft than without the product and once my hair is dryed and styled I like to finish the style and seal in a little more moisture with a final application of 1 pump through the ends of my hair. Even on a 2nd day, the hair still feels sleek and smooth on the ends without feeling overloaded, weighed down or greasy. What a godsend!

I am absolutely in awe of this little bottle of miracle oil and I highly recommend you all get out there and track it down in your local Tesco.

My hair routine Part 1 – Treatments

My hair routine Part 1 – Treatments

Hello Lovelies,

I get asked a lot about how I keep my hair looking so healthy considering the abuse it gets with bleaching and styling etc. I have just had between around 6″ cut off my hair so that it sits just below my shoulders and it is looking super thick and healthy again. Just what I like. I have a natural curl, a natural mid blonde and super thick. I bleach it until it is very pale blonde.

With a dark blonde toner on my hair

I am a home dye-er and I probably always will be but thankfully after almost 17yr of DIY die jobs I think I have the techniques and skills just about down to pull it off… even if I do say so myself!

I am not brand loyal, I like to mix and match my products to get the best results.

Over the next few posts, I’m going to run through my current hair routine.

Intensive treatment

I use the Olive Oil / Argan Oil leave in treatment that I wrote about HERE

Pre wash treatment

Clynol Rescue Repair Treatment. I use this as a mask while I’m pottering round in the steamy bathroom just before hopping in the shower. I leave it on from 5 minutes up to over night, depending on my plans. Smells AMAZING and leaves hair super slinky. I use this as a conditioner as well. I reserve this pre wash for when my hair is reaally in need of a perk.

I absolutely love the Montagne Jeunesse Hot Miracle Hair Reconstructor Oil.

I apply both parts togther and leave on for a good few hours or even over night before washing as usual and I’m always left with silky soft hair. It’s just a shame the results don’t last more than one wash. Nothing restorative but for occasions, it really does give fab temporary results.

Post wash pre condition treatment

Between washing my hair and conditioning, I take 5 minutes to apply Joico K-pak deep penetrating reconstructor to my hair on the mid to ends to restore as much depleted protein as possible. You definitely need to condition after this but it really does help your hair stay slinky soft and keepts it nice and resilient. You can see results after only a couple of uses. I use this twice a week or even more if my hair is feeling particularly rough.

This is just part 1, look out for the rest!

What are your favourite treatments? How do you tend to your tresses?

Bye Bye Frizz

Bye Bye Frizz

Today, I am booked in for my first Brazilian / Keratin blow dry and I can’t wait.

I don’t have too much issue with my natural hair being curly as such so i’m not wanting it for it’s straightening powers but for helping fight frizz on the ends so I won’t have to heat treat my hair.

I’m also excited to see how it copes in high humidity for stopping my hair frizzing out in to a giant fuzz ball.

It will be perfect for my holidays and those odd balmy days we sometimes get in to September where it’s still a bit too warm to wear a big winter coat, but it’s still raining… y’know those days? They play havoc with my hair!

And to follow in line with the lovely Monica Gellar monster hair, my husband has threatened to lock me in my room if I try to calm it with a baseball cap or seashell braids… that’s love isnt it!

I am going to the appointment today with a little trepidation. I don’t want to have huge expectations and be disappointed with the results but after speaking to the lovely Louise from Get Lippie on Twitter (@getlippie) about her experiences of having the treatment, I think i’m prepared.

The only thing that really puts me off is the no washing hair for 4 days… it’s not even like I can tie it back during those 4 days either! I bloomin’ hope I can get away with some Batiste on the roots to tide me over! eep!

For information, I plan to review my treatment and salon visit but I am in no way affiliated with the company. I purchased my treatment via a deal on Groupon : £59 – Conditioning treatment, cut, blow dry and brazilian blow dry.
