Lingerie from Liz McClarnon

Lingerie from Liz McClarnon

Hello Lovelies,

I will openly admit I fail pretty badly at wearing match underwear every day. Most days I’ll be lucky if they are the same colour let alone anything else.

Every so often I splurge and treat myself to some new pieces to see me through. It’s usually spring and autumn… pale light for spring and summer and dark richer tones for autumn and winter.

I saw these pieces from the new Liz McClarnon underwear range for Fashionworld and fell in love. I have one of Liz’s designed swimsuits so I have made a wish list from her new line which contains a red tartan set and a white swallow print set.

Tartan Balcony Bra – £24
Tartan Briefs – £12
(Also available – Tartan Plunge Bra)

Bird Print Bra – £24
Bird Print High Waisted Briefs – £14
(Also available – Bodyshaper)

This wish list serves me well as it’s my 8th wedding anniversary soon and 8 is meant to be Bronze, Salt, Linen or Lace… so let’s hope Mr Tramp takes note of the last two eh!

Grassington 1940s Weekend

Grassington 1940s Weekend

This coming weekend sees the annual Grassington 1940s Weekend held in Grassington, Yorkshire. The entire village gets in to the retro spirit and embraces the yesteryear festival.

We visited last year and are going back for the weekend this year.

The 1940s weekend features Spitfire flyovers, tea dances, Lookalikes, Military vehicle parades and musical entertainment all from the period.

Grassington 1940s Weekend

The park and ride is operated on vintage buses and there is a great re-enactment camp where they fire up a stationery Spitfire engine. My gosh that sounds insane!

This year’s 1940’s weekend is to include:
A full size 18 ton tank in Grassington Square
West Yorkshire Austin / Classic Car Club parked around the village

Re-enactor camps and displays in YDNP Car Park to include:
A large selection of Vintage Military Vehicles
Fox Commando Royal Navy and Combined Operations Unit
American encampment
German 21st Panzer Div LHG
German 1st Kompanie GD
German Heer Signals Unit
Russian 13th Guards ‘Poltavaskaya’ Rifle Division
West Riding 28th Battalion Home Guard – ‘C’ Company

Grassington 1940s Weekend

Some displays will include pyrotechnics. There is also a help for heroes stall where you can practice your shooting practice (I perfected my shot last year on a print out of the Go Compare man right between the brows!)

The best thing about the1940s is the atmosphere. Everyone is so friendly and the businesses have really embraced the weekend with everyone dressed up to get in to the swing of things.

You will find American airmen having a pint with a german soldier, with a land girl serving behind the bar. Costumes aren’t a requirement but they certainly add to the fun!

Grassington 1940s Weekend

It is just brilliant and I wholeheartedly recommend making a trip over the weekend. You can find more information on the Grassington 1940s Weekend on Grassington website here.

Patterned trousers – My Top Picks

Patterned trousers – My Top Picks

Hello Lovelies,

This summer I am totally embracing the patterned trouser trend. I’ve had one trusty pair in my arsenal for a couple of year now but I am obsessed!

As I am not a skirt or dress kinda person, I find these light summery strides to be a great compromise without having to resort to jeans or linen trousers.

I’m currently the proud owner of 1 -3 as well as a couple more… but I’m quite taken with those patterned harems from Yours and the tie dye jeans!

1. Floral Cropped Trousers   |   £24   |   Simply Be via Crazy Clearance
2. Skull Jersey Trousers   |   £25   |   Fashion World
3. Leaf Print Jersey Trousers   |   £18   |   F + F at Tesco
4. Floral Joggers   |   £17.99   |   New Look
5. Patterned Harems   |   £22   |   Yours Clothing

Are you embracing the patterned trouser trend or is it a little bit much for you?

Bon Marche Quilted Jacket

Bon Marche Quilted Jacket

Hello Lovelies,   Recently, the lovely folks over at Bon Marche got in touch and asked me if I’d like to pick something from their current stock to review. I chose the red jersey quilted coat for £25. The coat is available in classic black too.

When the coat arrived, it reminded loosely on the quilted Barbour jackets but due to the cut and style, let alone the fabric it was very different. It is almost heritage which seems to be a great trend for 2013.

Before I had chance to wear it, my Mam claimed the coat for herself and it was never to be seen again! She did however let me snap her doing a “catalogue model” pose as well as sharing her views on the coat…

Look out all you other 60+ models, she’s busting on to the scene!

The coat, being of jersey fabric is the perfect jacket for this time of year – Cool enough to require more than a jumper but not cold enough for your big thick winter coat. The cut is very flattering and is a generous size meaning a jumper can be worn underneath but it also keeps you toasty warm if you’re wearing a thinner layer. The fabric also means you can bundle it up and pop it in a holdall for travelling or keeping in the boot of the car for emergencies.

Bon Marche quite often have gems like this in and I find if you keep an open mind and have a keen eye, you can pick up some super well made, quality key season pieces for next to nothing. The best bit is they stock plus sizes. They are great for office basics like vests, plain trousers and t-shirts.

The coat is one of those great style staples than you can pair with a lot of current trends and it fits perfectly. For the price, you cannot go wrong with this jacket from Bon Marche.

The coat is online now and you can buy it from the Bon Marche website HERE in red or HERE in black.

Have you ever had a great find from Bon Marche or stores you would never think to look in?

Wide Fit Wellies from Jileon

Wide Fit Wellies from Jileon

Hello Lovelies,

As us girls (and guys!) with chunky calves know, buying wellies or indeed any kind of boot is nigh on impossible. Even smaller calves with decent room to tuck trousers in, is quite limiting.
I want to sing from the roof top about Jileon (www.jileon.com) extra wide calf wellies which expand… and expand… and expand leaving plenty of room for calves AND tucking room with up to 50 cm wide calf.

With a double gusset design on both sides, the Jileon wellie gives extra room that your regular Hunters and Le Chameau boots can’t offer.

The best thing about the whole buying experience from Jileon is that each product has its own measurements listed so you know at a glance whether you are a standard fit or wide for each item. A huge bonus when trying to navigate the very tricky field of finding wide calf boots.

I personally spend a lot of time outdoors in the mud and snow so to finally have a pair of full length boots that offer me warmth, stability AND waterproof protection is just amazing. Priced at a very reasonable £49.99 they offer a selection of colours for men and womens tastes a like including floral and spotty!

The look short but I have rather long lower legs!
I haven’t had the opportunity to test these bad boys out in snow and too much mud as the weather is only just turning but they faired very well plodging in the shoreline at the beach, in the rocks in the river and in shallow muddy fields.  Oh the things I do for you lot for the sake of a review!
You can see where my jeans end and my padded boot socks end, mid calf.

Available online, direct from Jileon, I fully recommend their great range, from standard fit all the way up to wide calf fit.
Look at all that extra room in the boot!!

I have another review coming soon for some beautiful olive green wellies that are also wide fit. These beautiful blue ones just make me stand out too much when I’m out in the fields… something that defeats the point of me being there!
