Joules design a welly competition

design competition lock up-01Now it is incredibly rare that you will see me posting about competition entries

but when one lands in my mailbox to design my very own pair of Joules wellys that will be available to buy, who am I to turn that down?

Long term readers will know I’m a country girl and most weekends you can find me, Paul and even my Mam knee deep in mud in a field somewhere. We certainly do know the true value of a good pair of wellies.

Happy Anniversary

9th wedding anniversary

It is our 9th wedding anniversary today. 9 whole years of being married. Not bad going for a 32yr old I guess, especially as we have been together for 14yr in total!

We had a civil ceremony in a beautiful 11th Century Castle in Northumberland surrounded by 32 acres of beautiful countryside. We had the place to ourselves and it was a magical day, not having to share our big day with any other wedding parties.

Private use was very important to us and of course it took a lot longer to save up but it’s not something I’d ever change –  I would change the guest list though but that’s a whole different story!

Happy Anniversary Paul

Halloween Party Ideas

Halloween Sponsored Post 1

Halloween is coming around the corner. The shops are full of ghoulish masks which will probably give you a facial allergic reaction. You have bought loads of sweets in order to keep the trick and treaters (literally) sweet and also Sellotaped your letterbox in case of one of your visitors wants to inflict a treat of a firework into your house. Kids and teenagers have a rip roaring time at Halloween but what about you – the adult?

Preston Park Museum, Stockton

Preston Park Museum, Stockton

Tucked away on the banks of the River Tees, near Yarm, Preston Park Museum resides in acres of park land.

I haven’t been in over 20 year but with the promise of a modern history museum, a Victorian Street and as many walking routes as you could possibly imagine, I couldn’t resist going back.

Officially opened as a museum in 1953 and rebranded in 2012, I took my Mam along to check it out.

European Food Guide

European Food Guide

I am off to the Netherlands on Thursday and one of the most important thing we research before going on a European city break is the best places to eat and any stand out dishes we need to check out.

I’d rather eat with the locals in a poky little authentic cafe than sit in a chain restaurant or something outside of the country.

I have a great little European Food Guide widget to show you, to help you make some foodie decisions
