Marc by Marc Jacobs Earrings

Marc by Marc Jacobs Earrings

Hello Lovelies,

Bit of an odd post today, I want to show you my favourite Marc Jacobs earrings. I sometimes think twice about posting ‘designer’ items as I don’t want to appear braggy or boastful. Any “high end” purchase I make always has a heavy caveat that I have worked exceptionally hard in my 2 jobs to pay for my goodies. Yes, I have a full time job and run a business too!

Many of you probably won’t know this but I have 2 large ‘tunnels’ in each ear. They were previously 24mm but now they are a more practical 10mm each. Having long hair, they are usually pretty unnoticeable but as I get older, I’m not quite as keen on flashing them off in certain circumstances so I find disguising them to be most effective until I am ready to remove them totally.

Finding plain and simple, classic earrings that size is next to impossible so when I spotted these lovely little Marc by Marc Jacobs earrings I had to snap them up. I wear them with a large backed butterfly to hold them in place and voila, you’d never know I had tunnels.

It might be a squeamish topic for most…. But I love finding these great little work rounds. Yes I do sometimes miss wearing cute earrings but that’s the choice I made a long time ago…. I always have 5 other smaller holes to choose from 😉

I have these little beauties in several colours to match all eventualities. I always wear them for my business meetings as I try to stay label / brand free in my working environment but a little flash of Marc is never a bad thing is it! I sometimes think things emblazoned by designer logos is a little distasteful and sadly, I also feel the bigger the logo, the more it looks fake. Does that even make sense?

Of course I am well aware how many people may hate tunnels… but I like them, as do millions of other people so if you don’t like them, please don’t leave any negativity in the comments…. I’ve heard it all before and I expect more than that from all my gorgeous readers.

Do you have any clever, fashion tips and tricks?

OOTD : Dreaming of you….

OOTD : Dreaming of you….

Hello Lovelies,

Bit of a tenuous OOTD title, but if you remember the song Dreaming of You by The Coral, then you’ll see what i’m getting at!

I have a very important, yet not too formal event coming up with photo-ops galore and I wanted a great new dress to show off my weight loss, look summery AND smart.

On my usual trawl of websites, I spotted this gorgeous coral polka dot dress on Simply Be. Sadly the picture I have used in the styling looks pretty red but the other snaps look a truer coral.

I’m debating buying it but this is how i’d style it out… I think seeing a potential new outfit laid out like this always helps me decide YAY or NAY.

I’d swap the skinny belt for a nice wide belt to highlight my trimmer waist and lengthen my legs with some great cut out wedges to add a bit of interest. A plain black clutch and plain black cardie for if it’s chilly would finish my outfit.

Dress | Simply Be (£40)
Belt | New Look (£3.99)
Cardigan | Black, generic brand
Black frame bag | Lux de Ville Femme Fatale

What do you think, does styling an outfit out like this help you decide on it? I like it because it helps me be more organised as my time is limited to prepare outfits!

Luxury Leather Luggage by blokesbags.co.uk

Luxury Leather Luggage by blokesbags.co.uk

Hello Lovelies,

I’m sure if you follow me on Twitter you’ll know the dilemma I have been having with buying new travel luggage right? I am looking for the most perfect pair of tan leather holdalls / weekend bags. Finding these bags has been next to impossible and believe me I have trawled luggage shops and brands.

I want something quite masculine as I like classic, clean, simple shapes, styles and lines and as Mr Tramp will have to use these and a lot of the bags I have found have been a bit too girly.. Or in a lot of cases, insanely too expensive. I’m just not a fan of frou frou “girly” designs or overbearingly monogrammed designer luggage covered in labels and brands. I don’t begrudge spending money on good quality luggage that will last me a life time but looking at some of the high price range luggage in stores it just simply hasn’t been up to the quality I expect to reflect the price.

Feeling a bit dejected, I started to Google for mens leather bags in the off chance I found something appealing. And boy am I glad I did!

Blokesbags.co.uk, based in Bath, is a unique website offering a HUGE choice of bags for men. I am in leather luggage heaven here. So much so I found myself emailing the owner of the company to tell him how happy I was to have found his website.

David and his wife started Blokesbags 3.5yr ago to deal exlusively in the niche market of man bags. David himself always carried a bag whilst working as a newspaper editor and realised one day people stopped mocking him and starting asking him where he bought it.

Having built their own website from scratch, the company now stocks almost 500 different styles of manbags from beltbags to holdalls and a myriad in between. David sources each product for their design and practicality with their beautiful holdalls ranging from £34.99 to £700.

I think the stigma of carrying a ‘handbag’ has rapidly dropped with the increasing popularity of laptops and ipads. Men need to carry their stuff around just as much as us ladies so why not buy yourself a spiffy manbag rather than a dull black laptop bag or sports rucksack!

I know I had a lot of Twitter support from people looking for the same kind of luggage that I was, so I hope this is of some use. Mr Tramp is already eyeing up a few stunners to replace his naff laptop bag and old briefcase!

Would you ever consider thinking outside the box and looking at ‘mens bags’ or are you all about the girly?

Kitschen Sink Customised Necklaces

Kitschen Sink Customised Necklaces

Hello Lovelies,

I know I have spoken before of my love of all things cute, kitsch, retro and unusual… well how about a necklace that ticks all the above boxes and still comes in less than £20?

Kitschen Sink is run by the gorgeous power house that is Rowan Grant, based in Shipley Yorkshire.

You have probably already seen Rowans designs and not even noticed it as Russell Kane is a fan of the brand, sporting badges on his tv shows (included Geordie Shore reunion!!)

I think I need to indulge in other “choice” words slung round my neck for my own amusement or maybe my website name? oo the possibilities are endless.

I personally tweeted Rowan after seeing a twitpic she posted of another clients necklace and had to have one. The whole process was silky smooth and done over email, with a picture of my proof and choice of colours right up to the payment process and confirmation it had been sent out.

As if the necklace wasn’t good enough on it’s own.. there was a Refresher chew included too. Not seen in the picture… as i’d already scoffed it! Nom!

Hello Lovelies,

I know this will only directly apply to my more local followers but the owners of the shopping centre may well have something similar in your area, so I thoroughly recommend you checking it out on their site HERE.

When I was approached to attend, the first thing I asked was if they will be catering for plus sizes. The answer? YES! Simply Be, Monsoon, Evans and Next are all supplying stock for the event so between all those brands, you should be covered in the 16+ corner. HUZZAH I hear you say!

I will be popping along on Saturday to grill the stylists and put them to task to find me some new jeans for my new dinky jeans size as I’m sure dear Kathryn & Daniella are now both sick of me howking up my too big jeans!
