After a truly disappointing girls brunch down the street, my friends and I found ourselves craving cake and when in Jesmond there’s only one place to go – Cake Stories Coffee House.
A small and cosy affair, Cake Stories is full of quirky mismatched furniture, stripped wood and exposed bricks. So very Instagram-worthy. We grabbed the last table and settled down for, well, cake and stories!
With a small but perfectly formed hot food menu featuring breakfasts, brunches and light lunches, there’s something for everyone if you don’t have a sweet tooth. An impressive selection of freshly baked cakes and sweet treats rounds out the offerings.
I couldn’t resist the Unicorn Space Cake. Just look at that. It’s got EVERYTHING on it! And as I don’t have a sweet tooth, it was a proper treat! A moist multicoloured sponge was topped with butter icing, flowers, stars, edible glitter and candy jewels. Blimey!
A huge selection of teas are stocked at Cake Stories as well as barista coffee and to my pleasure, they knew how to make a London Fog tea!
With cake consumed and the world put to right we vacated our table and headed off, vowing to be back soon. We felt cosy and contented with our visit. It’s the perfect place for a relaxed visit with absolutely delicious cakes.
Prices are reasonable but the only downside is the seating. There’s not that much of it in comparison to Cake Stories’s popularity. That’s a good thing but a couple of people left as tables were taken up by students working, nursing empty cups. Each to their own and all that. At least the warmer days are coming so you can utilise the pretty outdoor seating.
