Madonna Inn, San Luis Obispo, California

Madonna Inn San Luis Obispo Review

One of the absolute highlights of our road trip, will be our visit to Madonna Inn in California. Sitting slap bang between San Francisco and Los Angeles, this mecca for all things pink and kitsch has been on my bucket list for years now and I couldn’t be happier to check it off.

With our reservation made, the tough part is picking our room….. read on and find out why…..

Launching on Christmas Eve in 1958 with a mere 12 rooms, skip forward to 2016 and Madonna Inn has a whopping 110 rooms full of whimsy and magic. You can check out all the rooms, with pictures HERE

There’s a room to suit all your kitsch wildest dreams and I am currently struggling between Chestnut Foal with it’s illuminated carousel horse hanging above the bed or the granite bohemoth Madonna Suite with it’s iconic infamous carpet and stone carved bathroom.

Don’t worry, if you can’t stretch to the stay, the public areas are just as ornate and out there. With an ornate wedding chapel, full service spa, pink tennis courts, boutiques and a choice of dining options, a day trip to Madonna Inn is just as fun as a stay.

The Copper Cafe is decked out in wood for a wild west saloon feel, while the Gold Rush steakhouse is dripping in opulence.

I can’t wait to get my very own pink crystal goblet from the gift shop and just soak in every single piece of madness that lies before me during our stay.

Without a doubt, this hotel is not to everyone’s taste, but you know what? How often will you get to say you have stayed in this legendary piece of Americana history?  Give me wild carpets and pink restaurants ANY DAY.
