A couple of weeks ago, the kind folks at Brewer Fayre invited us along to check out their newly revamped Dunelm Ridge restaurant.
Thanks to the kids soft play area, it is somewhere very local that I have visited regularly with my friend and her children. Paul and I were keen to see what changes have been made as it is a mere 5 minutes across the fields from home to here.
Just off the main road in to Durham (A167) and next to the Arnison Centre retail park, it is a great place to stop for a post shopping pint or pub lunch. The added beer garden is a great bonus, even at this time of the year!
Tucked away on a rural working farm in rural Durham, Broom House Coffee Shop boasts a menu that is chock full of home cooked dishes and sweet treats made solely with ingredients from the farm.
Tango sits nestled in to the side of Elvet bridge in Durham and comes from the same stable as The Townhouse and Zen Thai. Both stalwarts on the Durham scene. We had previously heard a few shaky reviews of Tango when it first opened but decided to give it a go to see for ourselves. Boy are we glad we did.
Arriving at noon on a Saturday, we had our choice of seats, which was a good thing as by 1pm, every seat in the room was taken. In a city centre, to be full an hour after opening seems like a stellar accomplishment.

Part of the Durham based dining chain Hollathans, Carlito’s Ristorante has taken up residence in a converted pub in Daisy Hill, bringing Italian food to the Durham countryside. In a village slap bang between Chester le Street and Durham, it remains a stones throw from other properties such as Hollathans in Chester le street and The Chester Moor which I reviewed HERE.
