MAC Salute was part of the Hey, Sailor! collection and I received this back in May as birthday gift from my mother in law.
Salute is a yellowy, caramel toned nude shade that reminds me of Caramac chocolate! The formula is creamy, as you’d expect from the Amplified finish. It is quite unforgiving on the old flaky lips so make sure you exfoliate or apply a balm first to banish those baddies!
MAC themselves have described this as a neutral peach colour and I have to say, I wholeheartedly disagree! I would suggest, if you fancying this and have the chance to buy it, do your research. Nude’s are quite hard to wear unless you get one that perfectly matches your skin tone. Admittedly, this isn’t the best for my ruddy complexion and I have to be very careful to buff the lip line to soften it but with a gloss over the top, I absolutely love it. I am wearing it with C-Thru lipglass or Boy Bait Cremesheen lipglass as it’s perfect partner.
I think it will look much better with a tan…. When the sun finally appears, so it might become my post holiday shade!
This is lovely! Though I can imagine it wouldn’t suit everybody 🙁 The packaging in this collection is gorgeous!
