Everyone needs a little TLC once in a while, so when I spotted a great deal for a spa day at The Garage Spa I had to snap it up.
Housed within The Morritt Hotel at Greta Bridge, just off the A66, the Garage Spa is a small but perfectly formed day spa with a gorgeous spa courtyard.
Tucked away in the former garages of the grand Morritt Hotel, hence the name, the Garage offers a small and compact day spa with plenty of wet-side features and a cosy seating area just off reception. The reception area is also home to the beauty bar at The Garage Spa.
Arriving for our morning half day spa package, we were to spend 4 hours within the facilities, have a 30 minute treatment and then a lunch in the hotel.
I can warn you now that some of the pictures are a little shaky and I missed out the steam and salt rooms as my camera just kept fogging up – It’s hard to take stealth photos in a popular Spa!
On a rare day off work, Mam and I were spending some quality time together so we were looking forward to chatting away in a hot tub, and boy were we spoiled for choice.
With a large high temperature hot tub, an icy plunge tub, a warm water soak tub all indoors, we headed outside to check out the infamous tin bath hot tub in The Garage Spa’s courtyard garden. Along with a traditional hot tub, a Shepherds Hut and loungers to enjoy the sun, the courtyard garden was a cosy and secluded expansion to the traditional indoors space.
It was mildly drizzling while we were outside but with the protective roof over the tubs, you really feel the benefit of the warm bubbles if it is chilly outside.
Completing the facilities, inside were experience showers, a steam room and a salt room. Hammam and Dry Float experiences can be added on at a cost. The Salt Room was so relaxing I could have had quite a nice long nap in there!
Upstairs you will find the quiet relaxation zone, the treatment rooms and the cutest private hot tub on a roof top terrace! Perfect for those romantic visits.
I had a glorious 30 minute facial that left me feeling relaxed and glowing for the rest of the day. I didn’t want to leave the cosy dark sanctuary of my treatment room.
Winding up our visit to The Garage Spa, we headed in to the hotel for lunch. From a generous and varied menu, we opted to share the hummus platter and then follow up with the Brie + Bacon sandwich and the Scampi. Both full size lunch portions and enough to keep us full and satisfied. We toasted the end of our day with a Gin + Tonic that was included in our package.
My only gripe from the day was the changing facilities. On one hand I loved the quirky retro styling and privacy but the toilets, shower and change area were in 1 contained unit which meant there was no communal space and if you timed it wrong, you had to wait to use the loo while everyone on the morning / afternoon change over were using the toilets. Not ideal when you have been sipping fizz for 4 hours and need to go! With a long wall full of lockers, sharing 1 locker for 2 people on a spa day was also a bit of a push.
On whole, we absolutely loved our visit to The Garage Spa. The staff were all incredibly friendly, chatty and knowledgeable, the facilities were immaculately clean and maintained and the surroundings were spot on. Just what you need on a spa day.
It looks lush, my friend got married at the morrit such a lovely place. x
