Way back in the summer, we went to Kielder for the midnight stargazing session. Trying to find somewhere remotely close to the Observatory to eat was harder than we thought. Then we found the The Anglers Arms.
Positioned at the end of the Forest Drive (blogged it here) and slap bang next to Kielder Castle, The Anglers Arms is tucked away on a bend surrounded by trees, As a rarity for the area, there is free parking for patrons which makes it the perfect stop off point for drivers.
OK, so it doesn’t look like the most glamorous or high end pub. Not by a long shot, and the inside is on the same vein but what you do get is incredibly good, friendly service and fresh, home cooked food served with a smile.
We whiled away a few hours with a couple of drinks and some simple food. The soup and chips were lush – I had to share a few of them with the owners dog who was giving me the sad eyes! The food is very reasonably priced and they take cards which is a bonus as there is a shortage of cash machines!

I forced Paul to have some peas from my plate!
Hello.
I’m not the owner of the pub, but I currently manage the campsite just down the road.
Your comments are spot on, too many customers judge without popping in, despite my claims or friendly service etc.
Thanks for a great little piece on your blog. Pictures paint a thousand words.

Thank you for taking the time to comment Steve. First appearances are quite often deceiving!
