Hello Lovelies,
I try to avoid the online hype for products before I make up my own mind but after being thoroughly unimpressed with Ruby Woo, I was still craving a gorgeously rich, pigmented matte red.
Lime Crime, an American brand spearheaded by Doe Deere, is pretty darn hard to get hold of in the UK. In physical terms that is. You can buy online but you’ll struggle to find it in person.
With this in mind and armed with a stack of online lip swatches, I placed my order and waited patiently for my Velvetine to arrive.
In a pretty, whimsical tube, the Velvetine applies like a silky smooth, fully opaque gloss and dries down to a vibrant, matte red lip.
Only available in 2 shades at present, I chose Red Velvet. The richer of the two.
I have worn this a lot and it is a dream to wear and apply. It does take a while to full dry down so you do get a bit of transfer but my lips have been left supple and not dried out.
I wore this shade on my wedding day in Las Vegas to really compliment the retro look I went for, along with my usual Rockabilly style. It lasted all day and was absolutely divine.
I fully recommend this product if you are a fan of red lips and are looking for a new formula to try.
Gah I love it! Do you know how it compares to the rimmel apocalips?
The apocalips is also gorgeous. Slightly different shade and slightly more glossy. The Velvetines dries down to a more matte, drier texture while the apocalips doesn’t last as long.
Both are a dream to apply with their thick, highly pigmented shades.
Definitely both worth a buy but slightly different horses.
