Sitting high above the City, Chaophraya is the jewel in the crown for the new Eldon Square dining concept. As it’s namesake river, The Chao Phraya, works it way through the centre of Bangkok, the Newcastle version has settled nicely in to it’s new abode. Dominating the former Finbarr’s restaurant, Kingslodge Inn have arrived and made their mark in a sleepy corner of Durham city centre.
Hidden in a little oasis of calm, backed with woodland of Flass Vale, the pub is only 10 minute walk from both the bus station, train station and student accommodation.

On a gloriously sunny day, we found ourselves at the Seaside hunting out lunch that wasn’t fish and chips. The queues were horrendous and with 2 hungry souls to be fed after a long walk, we needed a new plan! The all new Fat Buddha Sunderland at Seaburn has opened up in the prime seafront location. With views out over the sands and the sea, we headed in for a Thai lunch.
