Despite nagging the head honchos behind the Fat Hippo family to bring a restaurant to Durham, it has taken me a bloody long time to visit. Adding a 3rd eatery to their roster, Fat Hippo Durham has taken up residence on Saddler Street which is fast becoming a mini-mecca for the Durham Foodie.
This is the second exciting burger announcement I have brought you in May (Byron announcement here)! Hold on to your hats, Five Guys is heading our way to its new home in Intu Metrocentre.
Born in Washington D.C in 1986, the cult burger chain is already a big hit with 29 UK branches and over 1,000 US outlets.
The Metrocentre already has 2 dedicated burger restaurants so let’s hope there is room for another!
Situated on Shakespeare Street, The Fat Hippo Underground is, as the name suggests underground. A sister restaurant to the Jesmond stalwart Fat Hippo, The Fat Hippo Underground is a new expansion in a site that has been home to Starters + Puds and a Polish restaurant.
