Pink… it was love at first sight….

Pink… it was love at first sight….
No, i’m not declaring my lady love for the singer but I am about to show you what happens when this blogger gets bored on a Saturday afternoon!
I have been itching to get some colour in to my hair again and couldn’t decide between a “grown up” ombre, all over deep red or something a bit saucy.

I opted for something day glo and boy is it day glo!

It is perfectly straight but the shot doesn’t look it, does it!
Sadly the flash has jipped the colours in the picture, the blonde is much paler and the pink is much more of a highliter fluro colour.

The reason behind just doing the tips was simple, as you can see, I desperately need a trim so in theory I can change my colour every 6-8 weeks and get the last one all cut off! The picture also highlights how poorly my hair was cut the last time I visited a “high quality” salon. It looked raggedy since I left!

Anyways, it will do for now! I’m one of those ‘professional’ types that can’t do the whole hippy hair thing anymore so at least I can took the tips away in a bun or chignon for discretion in meetings.

Here’s another shot to show how bright my pink is.

I wish I could go that colour all over…. again

Dr Bronners – Tired feet need a treat…. this party season

Dr Bronners – Tired feet need a treat…. this party season
Last week, a friend and I attended a birthday party at a hotel in our very own amazing home city of Durham… Durham being the city of steps, hills and cobbles.
We had to do lots of walking and between me being a novice heel wearer and my friend being crippled in her heels, we both, needless to say, were suffering with sore throbby tootsies! I was wearing these, should it be of relevance! Office’s Wham Bam Wedge

Being the weirdo that I am, i’d packed an emergency pair of ballet flats in to my party bag BUT by this time, the old dogs were still barking.
My feet were still knackered the day after and it came to me in a flash (while brushing my teeth i’ll have you know) that i’d read about using Dr. Bronners Peppermint  soap as a foot soak for tired toots.

I dug out my bottle of Peppermint soap (read my review of Dr Bronners HERE) and treat my tender trotters to a lovely warm relaxing soak followed by a lovely relaxing massage with a foot lotion.
I know I have found the scent of Dr B’s to be quite overpowering (to my nose) in the past but this totally soothed my senses and set me off for a little disco nap.. which was great as I was suffering with a very rare case of Wine Flu (I don’t drink!).

Here is the feature that I had read that prompted me to try it. I bet the other scents would be divine too for all those upcoming post party blisters and aches!

Kate Moss for Rimmel – #12

Kate Moss for Rimmel – #12
I haven’t bought anything from Rimmel in such a long time and as such it’s been a brand that I generally overlook while make up shopping. I didn’t like any of the Kate Moss campaigns but I found myself browsing her lipstick release on the stand recently, and as Boots were offering a 3 for 2 on self serve cosmetics, I thought it would be rude not to try them out!

I did pick up 3 in total but the first one I want to focus on is #12. A rich and vibrant corally red colour which is highly pigmented and quite matte and leans slightly towards the red side of coral. I found the lipstick slightly drying on my lipstick, making it hard to work with and also slightly too smudgey (first application I ended up with most of it on my chin after 5 minutes- I don’t know how!!). From the bullet, the lipstick has a very soft scent of Dandelion & Burdock which was a bit of a surprise! It’s not overpowering and doesn’t linger on the lips.

With a very careful application and a clear balm on the top, this lipstick gives a striking pop of colour for the impending grey merky days ahead. It looks fab with a tan and would be a knockout colour for a night out, without being too OTT.

The lipstick is both pigmented and long lasting, it last longer if you don’t add some kind of moisturising layer over the top, but I found it quite uncomfortable to have dry lips for that long, and of course, licking them only exasperates the dryness! Even with a balm or gloss over the top, I got a good 4-5hrs noticeable wear out of one application with no cup transfer once it was fully dry. It did however end up all over my Go Ahead yoghurt covered breakfast bar! HA!

For £5.49, I think the pigmentation and quality is comparable with some higher end lipsticks such as MAC. The packaging certainly doesn’t have a high street feel to it, being very classic and minimal with only a small red signature from Kate. It reminds me of the MAC Emanual Ungaro line.

I’d recommend these lipsticks, as there seemed to be a shade to match most skin tones. I will show you the other 2 that I bought in following posts very soon but I think I might pop back to Boots and buy another 3!

Of course… I am pretending that Kate’s signature actually says Katie and that it’s my own personal lipsticks….. *whistles* yeah, I’m crazy! The rimmel lipstick is priced at £5.49 and you can buy it from all Rimmel stockists

What do you think to the rest of the offerings from Kate Moss and Rimmel?

Geordie girls are worth it says L’Oreal

Geordie girls are worth it says L’Oreal
Slightly biased post title there isn’t it!

No matter what your thoughts are on my fellow geordie girl Cheryl Cole, you cannot possibly dispute she has had an excellent rise to fame, culminating with being the hair (and face) of  L’Oreal hair care!

It is also a bit of a perk that on the adverts she hasn’t been overly vocal-trained and she does still have her good old northern lilt to the famous “Because we’re worth it!”

L’Oreal are currently on a search to find 3 lovely ladies to join wor Chezza in the next adverts, so if you are a racy redhead, brilliant brunette or buxom blonde then why not apply and be famous!

Cast Yourself alongside Cheryl in the next L’Oréal Paris Casting Crème Gloss advert

L’Oréal Paris is looking for three girls to star in the next Casting Crème Gloss advert alongside spokesmodel, Cheryl Cole. From 31 October to 27th November, fans of Casting Crème Gloss will be able to cast themselves in the role of either: deep brunette, fiery redhead or honey blonde.
To enter visit and click on the application button which appears on the left hand side of the page, follow the steps to enter and upload a picture of yourself then ask friends and family to cast their vote from the 28thNovember to 4th December 2011.
The most popular brunettes, redheads and blondes will be shortlisted for a L’Oréal Paris Casting Day where you will receive a makeover by our hair & makeup artists in preparation for a live audition, in front of a panel of judges. This will be your chance to go in front of the camera and tell us why you love Casting Crème Gloss. And yes, you can even utter those famous words, “Because you’re worth it!’
The winners will then be chosen to appear in an exclusive new L’Oréal Paris advert alongside Cheryl. Who knows, you could be the next colour crush!

Will you be entering?
