Just because the sun has finally set on summer, doesn’t mean we have to go straight in to autumnal darks. I’ve been keeping the summer spirit alive with this NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil (£20). A bright pop of fun on a grey day.
The NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencils are long lasting lipstick in a crayon format. This makes them incredibly easy to use, thanks to their soft rich formula which is laden with Vitamin E. The pigmented, rich colour glides on and lasts a pretty long time.
For all the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil is a matte lipstick, it is a non drying formula which sits nicely on the lips. It doesn’t sink in and feel tight and chalky which is a good thing considering it’s staying power.
If the bright and bold isn’t for you, there are 30 shades in the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil range so there is something to tick all the boxes for every eventuality.
I have been enjoying lining my lips with the pencil and then adding a similar lipstick in the middle for an ombre look but on me, that look just doesn’t last – I think I talk too much!
For ease of application, comfort and staying power, I cannot fault the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil at all. The only gripe I have is it is a bit clunky to fill your lips in with the fine tip of the pencil, if you use the side, it tugs a little.
£20 may seem a lot of what most would consider to be a lip liner but this will last forever, I have had it for months now and haven’t needed to sharpen it yet! This was actually one of my purchase rewards from Sephora.
And we had a special guest while I was taking the photos for this review…. say Hello to Barney! He wanted to be in EVERY photo!
