Pixi + Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse Review

Pixi + Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse Review

I sometimes question the integrity and authenticity of a lot of blogger collaborations but when the undisputed authority on skincare blogging – Caroline Hirons – teams up with a brand, you KNOW it is going to be good. The Pixi + Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse (£24)  hit the stores recently and has gone down a storm.

Trained in over 100 leading skincare brands and backed by a 31yr retail career, Caroline comes from a multi generation family of beauty gurus. Caroline’s blog is jam packed with skincare reviews, raves and a tonne of extremely detailed information. With cheat sheets and product recommendations to suit all budgets, her passion for good skin comes across in her no-nonsense approach.

Pixi, created over a decade ago by veteran make up artist Petra Strand, you’ll probably already be well aware of the brands cult skincare product the Pixi Glow Tonic.

As the name suggests, this 100ml pot of goodness contains both a solid cleansing oil and a rich cleansing cream to follow up with. The perfect double cleanse without the hassle of having the bathroom piled high with products.

The cleansing oil works rapidly to break down and remove dirt, SPF and even the most heavy duty of make up. Even waterproof mascara isn’t a match for the oil. Gentle enough to not cause irritation, the oil is enriched with Vitamin E for conditioning. Camellia Oil for omega rich nourishment and Evening Primrose oil to heal and moisturise are both packed in too.

I wear thick heavy foundation and red lip stains on a daily basis and it just melts away after a gentle massage. The Pixi + Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse oil melts quickly on the skin and as it is scent free, doesn’t irritate eyes or my sensitive skin.

Once you have removed your make up and wiped with an obligatory flannel, a market which Caroline has single handedly kept a float with her advice, it’s time to move on to step 2.

A thick and luxurious cream cleanser promotes cell renewal and elasticity with Arginine which Vitamin C boosts collagen and a Peptide Complex helps tackle fine lines. As the cream cleanser is so thick, it feels like a luxurious treat to the skin after removing the days make up and grime. It feels like a nice pampering treat at the end of a hard day.

Neither the oil nor the cleanser leave you feeling greasy. The skin is ready to move on to the skin care products you choose without fuss.

I use less than the described ‘coin size’ amount , well maybe I do, they don’t specify what size coin! I use about a 20p size amount of both and it does my moon face quite nicely!

I have read a fair few comments so far online that the pot isn’t big enough for the price. That may be so but I’d rather pay a little bit more for something that I know is going to be good thanks to Caroline’s BS-free stance on products. You get what you pay for and compared to other high end skincare items, it’s a bloody bargain.

I managed to pick mine up from Marks + Spencers with their free in-store collection but they have been sold out quite a few times online.

I have seen several reviews of this product recently, think that I might have to make a purchase in the coming weeks. Current cleanser is getting low so now would be the perfect time to try something new.

I wasn’t impressed with this cleanser to me it was nothing special I purchased from M&S and ended taking it back for a refund. The jar was a bit cumbersome and not a lot of product for the price. On the plus side, it was fragrance free, not tested on animals, all good, but so many good products on the market.

Oh I’m sorry to hear you didn’t get on well with the cleanser. I bloody love it.

I didn’t realise M+S accepted returns on toiletries and cosmetics unless they were faulted? Handy to know for the future!
