Long cold days, warm nights by the fire and a whole lot of artificial warmth does no favours to your make up so I have been reaching for the Maybelline Superstay 24hr Setting Spray (£6.99) to keep my make up looking flawless and fresh all day long.
I have tried a few of the other current highstreet offerings from the likes of Rimmel, NYX and L’oreal and this definitely tops the list.
Application is as you’d expect, a fine misted spray but you need to shake the product well before applying as the setting spray is a milky white colour and little specks are left all over your prisitine Instagram-worthy contour if you don’t but it’s a small price to pay. It doesn’t feel as refreshing as my Urban Decay setting spray does when I set, but horses for courses I guess.
Once I put my make up on at 6am it needs to perform for at least another 12-16hrs after that so I have no overly high expectations any setting spray can make it last that long, but this really does help. You can go from office to bar without your base needing topping up, and as I find my make up always seems to look a bit flat and dull in Autumn with the heating and cold winds, any improvement on that is muchly apprecitated!
The thing I notice the most is the colours stay brighter, which gives the illusion of longevity. My blush and highlight stay bold and crisp rather than melting in to my skin after a few hours. A bold coral blush won’t need topping up until well in towards the 12+ hour mark. It even helped keep my blusher and bronzer on my face on my recent holiday where it hit 40 degrees – no sweaty sliding make up here!
I know I can set my make up and it looks as good as can be until I remove it and for the bargain price – you need to try it!
