If you didn’t know, Black Friday is a huge shopping day over in the states. It’s the day after Thanksgiving and most of the stores and websites have insane sales. Of couyrse, to follow suit, England are now jumping on to Black Friday and it’s Monday counterpart, Cyber Monday!
Don’t feel left out though, Intu Metrocentre and Intu Eldon Square are hosting a full Black Weekend event.

The count down to Christmas has well and truly begun at shopping centres across the country.
But as the twinkling lights, joyful tunes and carol singers radiate a warm Christmassy feeling throughout the land, savvy shoppers are hoping to bag the best bargains of the festive season during this year’s Black Friday weekend.
Here in the North East, retailers at intu Eldon Square and intu Metrocentre are making plans for a spectacular shopping extravaganza that will deliver massive discounts, special offers, spot prizes, competitions and festive fun over a four day period from 28th November to 1st December – the last pay weekend prior to Christmas.
Both shopping centres will be awash with prizes and giveaways from retailers, with new discounts being added every day. For the most up-to-the-minute offers, check out www.intu.co.uk/eldonsquare and www.intu.co.uk/metrocentre.
Highlights include discounts of up to 40% off at schuh, and up to 30% off fashion at Dorothy Perkins and the Levi Shop. Ann Summers will be offering 20% off everything including sale, promotions and the premium Giles Deacon line.
Bargain hunters at both shopping centres can pick up two pairs of jeans for £40, two polo shirts for £20, two t-shirts for £10 at Blue Inc, and save an additional 15% off all gift sets at The Fragrance Shop. Thornton’s Premium Chocolate Collection (336g) will be slashed to half price and on sale at just £5.
At intu Metrocentre, discerning shoppers can also get up to 50% off Deichmann shoes and The Sunglass Hut, up to 25% off all stock at 7Camicie, and up to 20% at Sole Trader.
Special offers during the weekend include two bears for the price of one at Build a Bear in Fenwick (Black Friday only), and smoothies at Juice Boost, intu Eldon Square, will be reduced by £2.
intu customer service staff will be spreading festive cheer with over a thousand pounds worth of giveaways, including intu gift cards and goody bags, and stars from Cinderella at The Mill Volvo Tyne Theatre will be distributing free pantomime tickets. Anyone spending £50 or over purchasing a gift card at intu Eldon Square will receive a free box of Thornton’s chocolates. (While stocks last)
Busy shoppers at both centres can take advantage of charity gift wrapping services, located all weekend outside Oasis at intu Metrocentre, and between Fenwick and Boots on Saturday 29th at intu Eldon Square. Shoppers simply drop presents off and return to collect beautifully wrapped gifts – all for a donation to charity.
Musical entertainment continues all weekend, alongside free face painting, interactive games and competitions, including a particularly festive family prize of a box to the pantomime Cinderella at the Mill Volvo Tyne Theatre this Christmas.
