My star products of 2011

My star products of 2011

 1. HD Brows Palette in Vamp

I missed this in the beauty boxes but I was very kindly sent this in a swap with a fabulous fellow blogger and I have used it every single day.

I am fair haired so my eyebrows are almost invisble and I do both dye my brows and then shade them every day so this little gem has become a godsend in the short while I have had it.

Daily use and I imagine continued daily use until it runs out!

2. Diva Pro Styling Big Hot Rollers

These are awesome. I have long, thick, unruly hair and I have always struggled finding hot rollers that are large enough in diameter to give me big beautiful bouncy curls. I had almost given up hope until I got my hands on these bad boys.

My only wish is that they were all the red size as that would be even better!!

3. Clynol Rescue Repair Treatment

I use this every time I wash my hair as a conditioner rather than a treatment and my hair, truly, has never been so silky, strong and healthy. It is perfect for my processed blonde hair.

It has such a gorgeous smell, it’s almost aftershavy and clean. Yum.

4. Chanel Egoiste Platinum

I struggle to wear womens perfumes as I have allergies to certain scents. Flowery, girly, cloying ‘fumes just make me itch and feel sick.

With this in mind, I like to wear fresh, clean, ‘masculine’ scents. I choose ones that don’t instantly scream aftershave and Egoiste Platinum is one of those.

5. Nars Deep Throat Blush

In the North East, we have 1 retailer of Nars, it’s a blink and you miss small Space NK over a large department store and it’s just one of those stores I always forget about.

I had an itch to finally dip my toes in and go and buy something so thanks to Helen over at just-nice-things, my Twitter Nars enabler, I picked up Deep Throat.

I have worn it sooo much since I got it, I have to tell myself to ease off it and wear a different one somedays, just to mix it up!

6. Molton Brown Cassia Body Deodorant

I have worn this for years as a daily body spray, no matter what perfume I seem to wear, when I feel like I need a touch up or a refresh, Cassia seems to overlay effortlessly and not cause a stink.

You will never find me without this in my bag, great for scenty emergencies and as it’s actually a male scent, it’s perfect if the hubby needs a quick burst to freshen up.
7. Batiste Wild Dry Shampoo

What more can I say about this? Gorgeous vanilla-y toffee-ish scent, banishes those pesky oily roots, disguises between dye job roots AND comes in a leopard print can? Love the stuff and can’t get enough. RAWR!

8. Nars Luster Blush

This is such a beautiful colour. I’ve been in love since I buy it. It’s a peachy browny goldy gem and i’ve been wearing it as both a blusher AND a bronzer as the colour just suits my skin tone so well. I’m actually wearing it now as I type!!

9.Babyliss Big Hair

I was in two minds about buying this, in late 2010 as I had horrid flashbacks of getting a boar bristle brush stuck in the crown of my hair and it taking 2 people as a child to unravel it. Ick.

I used this with great trepidation and it really did take getting used to but now I am a dab hand with it and it is amazing. It gives awesome body and volume with gorgeous flicky curled layers. It gently dries your hair as you curl and shape so I have not experienced any heat damage, unlike rough drying and then straightening / curling. It makes my thick coarse hair so sleek and soft.

Well worth its weight in gold.

10. Enrapture Encode Totem Wand

I absolutely love the Encode Totem Wand as you can dial the heat settings to match your needs exactly using the 3 independent heat zones, from 1-3 it gives you almost endless possibilities from super loose waves to tight ringlets.

I have to say, I’m too gormless to use it as a wand, weaving my hair round it with my hand. Instead I use it traditionally like a curling tong so in that respect I wish the flipper was full size but that’s my only small gripe.

11. Pro-voke Touch of Silver twice a week brightening shampoo

I am obsessed with this shampoo. I have tried just about every single blonde toning shampoo available and always come back to this one. It cools down any brassy or gold tones and brings out the white tones in my super pale hair.

It smells like fresh laundry too. Lovely! Look out for some in depth blonde-specific reviews in 2012!

12. Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in Red Diva

I looked for forever to buy a red lip liner on the highstreet and this honestly was the only one I could seem to find. There was burgundy, there was pink but there was no RED liner which was frustrating as most brands carried 1 bright red lippy.

Bargain for the price and a definite repurchase. All the swatch pictures for this bring it out at a deep red but it is a nice bright red!

13. Illamasqua Tramp Lipstick

I couldn’t not include this now could I?  Obsession with red lipsticks needed no other excuse to buy a new one than the name alone.

Nice matte finish and a rather ‘grown up’ red. Love it and it’s one I wear quite a lot for work.

14. Korres Lip Butter – Guava

My most favourite lip product EVER. The hardest thing to find in stock… almost EVER! I really must get to a store and stock up massively as I heard whispers it had been discontinued! Nooooooooooooooo!

I hope you have enjoyed my random little run through of products. It’s certainly not exhaustive but these are the highlights.

What has been your ONE favourite product of the year??

This would be difficult to do, so many good products! I didn’t know that wild batiste smelled like that so think I will have to get that one next. I too got one of those brushes stuck in my hair as a kid, I wasn’t as lucky though and it got cut out. Do you think it would work on waist length hair, without layers?

Great post. Re: Korres Lip Butter in Guava – Debenhams in Eldon Square sell those lip butters, I’m fairly sure I’ve seen the Guava one too so it’s worth having a look in there 🙂 xx
