Simply Be 3 in 1 Waterproof Coat

Simply Be 3 in 1 coat
I picked this 3 in 1 coat up in the sales at Christmas in Simply Be for £55 and it was just what I was looking for. I wanted a coat to keep in the car ready for those bad weather days that creep up on us and for impromptu long wintery country walks. I spend a lot of time outside and it is often quite hard to find plus size waterproof items.

I find a lot of waterproof coats are either drab or “cheap” looking so I have been hunting high and low. This one from Simply Be has a demure base of navy blue but lifted with the addition of cute polka dots. It is purely for casual wear which I think is perfect. Coming into the spring the outer jacket will be perfect for April showers and it has a touch of nautical chic.

The 3 in 1 construction of the coat means I have a light weight fleece, a light weight water proof coat or when worn together, a thick warm water proof coat. The 3 in 1 coats really offer brilliant value for money.

Lingerie from Liz McClarnon

Lingerie from Liz McClarnon

Hello Lovelies,

I will openly admit I fail pretty badly at wearing match underwear every day. Most days I’ll be lucky if they are the same colour let alone anything else.

Every so often I splurge and treat myself to some new pieces to see me through. It’s usually spring and autumn… pale light for spring and summer and dark richer tones for autumn and winter.

I saw these pieces from the new Liz McClarnon underwear range for Fashionworld and fell in love. I have one of Liz’s designed swimsuits so I have made a wish list from her new line which contains a red tartan set and a white swallow print set.

Tartan Balcony Bra – £24
Tartan Briefs – £12
(Also available – Tartan Plunge Bra)

Bird Print Bra – £24
Bird Print High Waisted Briefs – £14
(Also available – Bodyshaper)

This wish list serves me well as it’s my 8th wedding anniversary soon and 8 is meant to be Bronze, Salt, Linen or Lace… so let’s hope Mr Tramp takes note of the last two eh!

Patterned trousers – My Top Picks

Patterned trousers – My Top Picks

Hello Lovelies,

This summer I am totally embracing the patterned trouser trend. I’ve had one trusty pair in my arsenal for a couple of year now but I am obsessed!

As I am not a skirt or dress kinda person, I find these light summery strides to be a great compromise without having to resort to jeans or linen trousers.

I’m currently the proud owner of 1 -3 as well as a couple more… but I’m quite taken with those patterned harems from Yours and the tie dye jeans!

4. Floral Joggers   |   £17.99   |   New Look
5. Patterned Harems   |   £22   |   Yours Clothing

Are you embracing the patterned trouser trend or is it a little bit much for you?

Taillissime blazer jacket

Taillissime blazer jacket

Hello Lovelies,

Some eagle eyed folk might have spotted me wearing a gorgeous black blazer style jacket in a few of my What Katie Did posts.. well… I’m about to tell you what I’ve been wearing!

The jacket in question is from One Stop Plus and is the Taillissime long sleeved jacket with tailored collar – aka blazer (to me anyway). The jacket was £49 and it is made really well. For some reason, when I chose it, I didn’t look at the fabric listing. I was expecting it to be a nylon-y suit material but when it arrived I was very pleased to see it was almost a very thick t-shirt / hoody fabric.

Once on, the jacket is so soft and comfortable to wear it’s unreal. It’s like wearing a posh slouchy hoody yet still looking kick ass and on trend! I do a lot of driving and I am constantly travelling about so it’s been a god send to throw on during journeys to look polished without getting creased but at the same time looks equally as funky with jeans and a top.

With the weather being so hit and miss lately I’ve been wearing the jacket for work and keeping it on through out the day. It’s that touch warmer than a cardie but not as hot or cumbersome as a coat. Best of both worlds right?!

One thing I really strongly recommend is to check the sizing before you buy this jacket, should I convince you too (go on… buy it!). I personally feel it runs a little small on the sizing but thanks to the fabric you are given that little bit of stretch. The good thing about the One Stop Plus website is that is shows the measurements per size so to avoid confusion you can first. I ordered the jacket at the very beginning of my weight loss journey and even though I have now dropped several dress sizes, this jacket doesn’t show that so I’d imagine if possible you might need to size up if you can (it only goes up to a 26 i’m afraid).

DON’T ask about the horn gesture… long embarassing story will ensue!

I personally like to wear this to smarten up my more ‘alternative’ outfits with a turn up in the sleeves, such as a rock t shirt, skinny jeans and some Chucky T’s. This just adds a smattering of smart casual style. It makes me feel refined and pulled together more than a cardie or leather jacket would.

I am attending a few events this weekend which are casual so no doubt you’ll see this blazer crop up on them unless the weather drastically improves!

How would you wear a blazer? Casual or smart?

* This blazer was kindly gifted to me for review purposes but it has not influenced my opinion at all.

What I’m wearing – Good Friday

What I’m wearing – Good Friday

Hello Lovelies,

It’s Good Friday! It’s almost chocolate time for all you chocolate lovers out there!

Today see’s Mr Tramp and I head to the other end of the region to visit Mr Tramps family, his mother, brother (Twin 1) and his aunt & uncle who have flown in from Cyprus for a visit. Twin 2 is somewhere in Asia but I don’t think anyone is entirely sure…. maybe we could play Where’s Wally with him?

Anyways, I digress!

I thought i’d branch out and wear a dress. Mostly because I want to showcase my weight loss to see if anyone that hasn’t seen me in years / months can tell (even though they aren’t the type of family to compliment!) but seeing as none of my jeans actually fit me any more, desperate times call for desperate measures!

This is also entirely for Kathryn’s benefit over at the fab Miss Kathryns Miss Takes or @kathroooon on Twitter. I’m not a dress person at all but reading all of her dress OOTD posts certainly does inspire me to get my pins out more often. Sadly it’s not entirely practical for me to wear them on a daily basis so the opportunity is few and far between!

The dress I am wearing is the Georgette Spot dress from Simply Be. This was a bit too big for me even before weight loss so is considerably too big now but I have really nipped the ties in at the back and put a huge old belt on to keep it all together. The fabric is a bit clingy so I can imagine had it been a correct size, I wouldn’t have got such a good floaty effect on the skirt or looser fit on the top. Does that even make sense?

I’ve styled it out as usual in picture form… if I get a chance to take a snap shot, i’ll add that in or include it in this weeks What Katie Did.

Georgette Spot Dress | Simply Be
Formal cream and black Mac | George at Asda
Nude patent flats | Kurt Geiger Lola 2
Red wide stretch “nurse” belt | New Look, non Inspire, old season
Nude patent vintage satchel | vintage but similar available via this ebay seller
Black 70 denier tights | Evans Clothing

One thing I will say, I rarely wear double breasted coats buttoned up, I like to leave it open but fold the outer lapels back and button back on themselves which give a really unique and unusual look which I have to say makes the jacket look a little classier and more expensive. Don’t know why but it does.

Do you dress up for family events or just stay casual?
