Brunch at Chez Mal Brasserie, Newcastle

Brunch at Chez Mal Brasserie, Newcastle

The biggest brunch on the scene is at the recently re-launched Chez Mal Brasserie at the Malmaison Hotel. Offering a whopping 4 courses for £19.99, the hotel has brought destination dining to the Quayside. Once only a mainstay with residents, the brunch brings in a whole new clientele looking to fill their plates with foodie perfection without emptying their wallets.

Social dining has really taken off in Newcastle of late and brunch is fast moving up the popularity ranks of places to go and be seen – only here is it acceptable to have a cocktail with your scrambled eggs!

RIU Clubhotel Tikida Palmeraie, Marrakech, Morocco

RIU Clubhotel Tikida Palmeraie, Marrakech, Morocco

We were lucky enough to visit the Clubhotel Tikida Palmeraie hotel not long after opening, back in 2010 and we were thoroughly impressed. So impressed that I am booked in to the sister hotel in Marrakech in May with Thomson Holidays.

From the outside, the hotel appears very modest, as is the way with a lot of the Riad’s and buildings in Marrakech but once through the doors, you are surrounded by sheer unadulterated opulence.

The Balmoral Bar, Edinburgh

The Balmoral Bar Edinburgh

Something a little bit different for Food Friday this week as it’s alcohol not food!

I have always wanted to stay at The Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh but as we visit regularly for weekend trips by car, it has never been the best place to choose for convenience. We have never got round to having afternoon tea in the Palm Court or drinks – it’s a crying shame.

A couple of weeks ago we snapped up some bargain East Coast train tickets and took ourselves off to Edinburgh for the day with my sole purpose of having drinks in The Balmoral Bar. I was a lady on a mission and as long as there was alcohol involved, it was easy to convince Paul.
