Review : Boilerhouse, Jesmond, Newcastle

Hello Lovelies,

Back in July, along with a couple of other bloggers and my partner in crime, I was very kindly invited along to the Boilerhouse salon in Jesmond, Newcastle.

From the outside, the frontage is smart but quite unassuming but as soon as you step inside, your eyes and senses are bombarded with something exciting every single place you look. From the reception area homing seats from the Theatre Royal and part of an airplane fuselage to the stripped floorboards, sumptuous chaise longues in hallways and quite possibly the most opulent ladies toilet you will ever see – seriously.

With other “concept” salons, you could be quite concerned that there’s an element of style over substance but this is not at all the case at Boilerhouse. The staff are all extensively trained in house with exacting standards by owner Kim Le-Neveu. Afterall, at the helm of the goodship Boilerhouse, it’s her name on the line and the quality of the staff does shine through.

Laura and I were treated to a Schwarzkopf Fibre Force treatment and stylish blow dry while sipping champagne (orange for me!) and munching on the most delicious canapes ever, made by Kim her very self!

The upstairs of the salon has such an antique French meets industrialist  feel to it, you can’t help but feel you’re the most important client they have ever had and this treatment continues until the minute you step out of the salon. How many times have you been left by the junior by the basin or your stylist vanishes off? None of that here, each client is of the highest priority. Something you should get as standard but never ever do!

After a lovely wash and head massage while sitting in the massage chairs, I had a great volumising blow dry complete with GHD curls. My stylist was so friendly and genuinely wanted to teach me how to do GHD curls myself. You rarely get such passionate, friendly staff! The curls lasted for 2 full days and my hair remained volumous, thick and full of life and texture.

Laura had a back combed curled style too and it was very 60s glamour!

The prices for services in Boilerhouse are comparable with any city centre salon but the service exceeds expectations.  A cut and blow dry comes in at £42 or £52 with Kim herself. To back up such a stellar salon, the 2nd floor houses the beauty treatment rooms and again, not one single inch has been overlooked to make a complete package.

Visiting Boilerhouse is an experience, not just a cheap cut because you have raggy ends. The pedicure thrones look amazing and a luxury pedicure will set you back a mere £30

I fully recommend the Boilerhouse Salon and I will be making the journey from Durham all the way to Jesmond when my roots need doing…. That’s testament to how much I enjoyed my visit!

Keep your eyes peeled for a further review of the Fibreforce products as they truly are AMAZING and I cannot sing their praises high enough!
