Happy Shoe Day!

Happy Shoe Day!

Hello Lovelies,

I can’t contain my excitement. The gorgeous tan leather wide calf boots I previously mentioned were “out of stock for up to 28 days”.

I still bought them so I knew as soon as they were in stock i’d get them Well today I got an email to say my order will be delivered in the second week of October!

This is a happy, happy shoe day! I thought I’d let you know if you too have been stalking the website for them to come back in to stock.

Behold…

Modalu Bags at Collectables

Modalu Bags at Collectables

Hello Lovelies,

Here in the North East, Collectables is a local institute. Once home to figurines and fine china, Collectables has, over the decades, morphed in to a central hub of all things you want to buy! In the Metro Centre alone, we have the large Collectables store with china, gifts, jewellery and bags and my personal favourite place, the cook shop store. I can’t walk passed without going in and dropping some serious money on kitchen goodies. It’s a curse. While browsing the Collectables website for more Yankee Candles, I found myself mooching over to the Modalu bag section. I really like Modalu bags. Their A/W range is now in stock online with Collectables and they are very covetable! You can pick up the best selling Pippa bag as well as my personal favourite, the Dickens Tote. Below is my top pick, from Collectables, for A/W13 Modalu bags.

Modalu Dickens Large Tote in Camel – £295

Modalu Daisy Bowling Bag – £79.99

Modalu Pippa 3 Compartment Floral – £295

Modalu bags are well made from Leather and really represent great quality for money, even more so if you can pick up a sale bargain such as the bowling bag above. I won’t share with you how many candles I have just ordered online from Collectables… Mr Tramp might be reading this and i’m better of sneaking them in to the house with stealth. Just call me the candle ninja!

Which is your favourite bag from the Modalu selection?

Beach Cover Ups with New Look

Beach Cover Ups with New Look

 Hello Lovelies,

When summer comes round, I usually aim to have at least one beach holiday where I can lie by the pool and forget all my stress back at home.

For the trip down to the pool or when the day turns chilly into early evening, I like to have a selection of cover ups. I know there is a huge selection to suit everyones taste, style and budget but I prefer kaftans. They are floaty and keep you cool as well as suitably taking you from day to night after the beach.
I like to wear shorter length kaftans with denim or linen shorts for sightseeing and day trips as you don’t get too hot if you have to cover your shoulders and be more modest for cultural visits and if you get the chance to cool off in the sea or pool, a kaftan can act as a beach mat, towel and top as they dry so quickly!

Drawstring kaftans can look sexy at a beach bar undone to show off a bit of cleavage as you’re sampling the local cocktails to cool down. Long gone are the dowdy frumpy styled kaftans, they are big news baby!

I keep the same staple pieces year in year out but this year New Look are stocking some fantabulous pieces that you should check out if you are on the hunt for a cover up.

Pink & yellow open kaftan
£24.99 New Look
My absolute favourite – White Lil kaftan | £39.99 New Look

Zebra Print kaftan | £25.99 New Look

What do you like to wear as a beach cover up?

A day at the races – retro style

A day at the races – retro style

Hello Lovelies,

I have been fortunate enough to have been a guest at the races a few times now and I always have a great time. I must admit I am usually more at home in jeans and a polo shirt with a pair of wellies and a wax jacket than in a posh frock but it’s nice to dress up once in a while isn’t it?

You can get a slight inkling of how the combined outfit might look as its not a million miles away from the style I wore for my wedding in Las Vegas

Stealing that style with Avenue32

Stealing that style with Avenue32

Hello Lovelies,

I know it’s hard to believe but it’s starting to approach that time, spring and summer wardrobes!

I am taking my ‘sun’ holiday early this year and I’m jetting off in the middle of May. I’m in that tricky predicament of needing to buy holiday clothes now but the high street isn’t keeping up.

I’ve been doing some sartorial stalking for some inspiration. Most of my summer dress drools have been coming from Avenue 32 at the minute.

Avenue 32, being an online boutique brand website offers high end and high quality goodies with the site updated twice a week with new products. No wallowing in old stock here!

With designers ranging from Giles to Zac Posen to Roksanda Ilincic, you get a real sense of high end and an almost one-off feel to each piece.

Naturally the first place I looked was at the bags but hey, a new frock needs a new bag yes?

I am going on a 2 week holiday and I will be rocking my usual kitsch, retro, vintage inspired outfits so I have picked out some of my favourite dresses from Avenue 32, saved to a cheeky folder on my desk top as inspiration for early summer wear!

This pink dress from Antonio Marras is gorgeous and I’d wear this for sightseeing. I’d team it with a little white cardie and some white converse to funk up the girly design.Id even wear this with thick black tights and a blazer back in the UK in the autumn!

Another Antonio Marras wonder, this would look perfect with black ballet flats and a little black clutch for a chic lunch or a nice dinner. I think the print is very 60s Mad Menish with the combination of floral and an almost plaid lower half.

On holiday, being brave in the sun, I’d wear this Thakoon Addition zebra flared dress for some quirky fun. Teamed with flats and big blag sunnies during the day or a pair of sky high heels and a chunky necklace for the night, I like funky dresses you can wear 2 ways… helps cut down on the packing!

Nothing sets off a suntan better than a crisp white dress right? This dress is a flared skater style from Chalayan and is another one you can style up a multitude of different ways. Gladiator flats and sunnies during the day, a pair of creepers and a denim jacket for lunch or a statement necklace and heels for partying on a night time.

For that one special evening, occasion or night out, you cannot go wrong with a statement dress. I find because I favour a more retro style usually, I like to switch it up and pick something effortlessly classic to make more of an impact. This Giles embellished silk gown is just amazing. Grey silk that just hangs so simply and with that excess of fabric that screams high end, oh my its just out of this world. And look at that collar. Pearl beading means no jewellery necessary!

Of course, you could use these images as inspiration to find similar outfits in your budget range or size range (which is what I will be doing!)

Which high end websites do you use to steal style ideas from? What do you think of my top holiday dress picks?
