Christmas Day OOTD – Planning ahead

Christmas Day 2015

Everyone has their own ideas on the best outfit to wear on Christmas Day. It can range from cosy PJs with the family all day to full on glitz and glamour.

This year it’s my turn to cook for the full family so I’m going for comfort but chic – if that is possible.

Joe Browns Tweed Heritage Coat

Joe Browns Heritage

Now it’s September, and the weather is starting to turn, I have been trawling the interwebs for coats and jackets.

I found this STUNNING heritage tweed from Joe Browns via Fashion World. It’s not all too dissimilar to the other heritage coat I posted last week HERE. Like the last jacket I posted, I’ll be removing the brooch and putting my own on.

At £100, I hope the quality is befitting the price. I used an online discount code and bought the coat for £80. Now I just need to be patient and wait for it to arrive! Boo!

A cool day coat from Yours Clothing

Yours Clothing Parka

Those chilly days seem to be more frequent than not throughout July haven’t they? The grim cool temperatures and torrential rain have certainly kept me out of my sandals that’s for sure!

On days like that, you want something warm and rain proof yet lightweight in case the sun gets out. I have been LOVING this coat from Yours Clothing.

What I’m wearing – Good Friday

What I’m wearing – Good Friday

Hello Lovelies,

It’s Good Friday! It’s almost chocolate time for all you chocolate lovers out there!

Today see’s Mr Tramp and I head to the other end of the region to visit Mr Tramps family, his mother, brother (Twin 1) and his aunt & uncle who have flown in from Cyprus for a visit. Twin 2 is somewhere in Asia but I don’t think anyone is entirely sure…. maybe we could play Where’s Wally with him?

Anyways, I digress!

I thought i’d branch out and wear a dress. Mostly because I want to showcase my weight loss to see if anyone that hasn’t seen me in years / months can tell (even though they aren’t the type of family to compliment!) but seeing as none of my jeans actually fit me any more, desperate times call for desperate measures!

This is also entirely for Kathryn’s benefit over at the fab Miss Kathryns Miss Takes or @kathroooon on Twitter. I’m not a dress person at all but reading all of her dress OOTD posts certainly does inspire me to get my pins out more often. Sadly it’s not entirely practical for me to wear them on a daily basis so the opportunity is few and far between!

The dress I am wearing is the Georgette Spot dress from Simply Be. This was a bit too big for me even before weight loss so is considerably too big now but I have really nipped the ties in at the back and put a huge old belt on to keep it all together. The fabric is a bit clingy so I can imagine had it been a correct size, I wouldn’t have got such a good floaty effect on the skirt or looser fit on the top. Does that even make sense?

I’ve styled it out as usual in picture form… if I get a chance to take a snap shot, i’ll add that in or include it in this weeks What Katie Did.

Georgette Spot Dress | Simply Be
Formal cream and black Mac | George at Asda
Nude patent flats | Kurt Geiger Lola 2
Red wide stretch “nurse” belt | New Look, non Inspire, old season
Nude patent vintage satchel | vintage but similar available via this ebay seller
Black 70 denier tights | Evans Clothing

One thing I will say, I rarely wear double breasted coats buttoned up, I like to leave it open but fold the outer lapels back and button back on themselves which give a really unique and unusual look which I have to say makes the jacket look a little classier and more expensive. Don’t know why but it does.

Do you dress up for family events or just stay casual?

Tesco Plus Size Clothing gem find

Tesco Plus Size Clothing gem find

Hello Lovelies,

Whilst doing my weekly shopping, I nipped up to the clothing section in Tesco. Not somewhere I’d usually go to buy my clothes but still worth a look right? Glad I did as I spotted a gorgeous long line silky shirt in a multitude of colours!

The shirt is available in 6 different shades ( White, Navy, Mustard, Salmon, Rust & Jade Green) for £14 each and I picked up the mustard, white and navy as I thought this would give me the widest range of looks.

The shirt is a silky synthetic fabric that does crease quite badly but if you are ok with that then these shirts are for you!

I have worn them over skinny jeans with a blazer and statement jewellery for a formal look, over bootcut jeans for a day out and tucked in to a pencil skirt and trousers for work and the shirts looked perfect on all occasions. You can see me wearing the navy shirt over red skinny jeans here :

And here with wide leg jeans and a blazer
I’m a big fan of items that you can wear on more than one occasion. I need my clothes to take me from a casual day at work to a formal business meeting with my clients to a night out with the girls in a posh bar. For £14 each, you can’t go wrong with these shirts.
I believe these shirts go up to a size 28 in the F&F True line so great for plus sizes. I will say they aren’t THAT baggy, certainly not as baggy as they look on the hanger so if you are looking for that loose oversized look, size up or if you want more fitted, size down.
Have you checked out Tesco’s clothing range? Are you a fan? Would you buy clothes in a Supermarket or like me would you never usually check them out?
