BD Trade Secrets Flawless Primer

BD Trade Secrets Flawless Primer 1

I quite often buy make up from Supermarkets as I find it easy to remember to stock up on brand essentials while I’m pushing my trolley round. I also like that my red lipstick obsession helps rack  up my clubcard points but we’ll not tell the husband about that one ok?

The BD Trade Secrets line is a Tesco own brand mainstay. Reliable quality and great value for money, I know I will always find what I need.

GOSH Primer + Hydration

GOSH Primer Plus Hydration

Joining the ranks of GOSH’s existing primers, the new Primer + Hydration* is a welcome addition.

Applying like a velvety soft moisturiser, the primer soaks in quickly and gets to work minimising the appearance of fine lines and pores. When worn with a matte or drying formula foundation, the product glides on effortlessly without clinging to dry patches. The wear feels that little bit more comfortable over the winter months when the skin can feel tight and loaded up with base product.

Combining the primer with a dewy or oil based foundation kept the foundation feeling solid and present on the skin after a 10hr day. I did feel I needed to powder more after applying the base with this combination but again it felt very comfortable on the skin.

I can imagine this primer being a year long favourite for ladies with dry skin or that prefer matte, high coverage bases. In the summer months when skin is parched from sun worship, it will provide some welcomed moisture before the base without disrupting the wear.

The primer contains Snow Algae which provides anti ageing properties to the primer does not provide any long lasting moisturising benefits so you will still need to use your regular moisturiser.

The Primer + Hydration primer retails for £13.99 but is currently on offer at Superdrug for £8.99

Revlon Photoready Perfecting Primer

Revlon Photoready Perfecting Primer

Hello Lovelies,

Recently, I have been trying to embrace a wider range of high street make up brands that I would never normally use. Today’s turn is Revlon and it’s Photoready Perfecting Primer.

As we all know, even the longest lasting foundation doesn’t stand a chance without a base. My usual primers of choice are quite silicone based with lots of slip to allow me to achieve a flawless, buffed finish to the skin without feeling caked. I’m quite picky though, sometimes a primer is too slippy and when combined with a ‘dewy’ foundation I feel like my face is running down my neck sometimes, if you know what I mean?

The Photoready looks quite unassuming in the bottle. A milky white colour with a gel / cream hybrid texture. 2 small pumps from the hygenic dispenser has my face covered but not overloaded. I think 1 pump would be too sparse, but great if you only want to target your T zone.

Odourless and non sticky, the product glides and soaks in quickly leaving perfectly plumped, primed skin. I don’t have any major areas of concern with my facial skincare so I can’t comment on whether it works well with enlarged pores and wrinkles BUT it does give the most gorgeous velvety finish I’ve seen from a highstreet primer and I’ve sampled quite a few.

I picked this primer up while it was on offer in Boots with £3 off. It does sit in the higher price end for high street primers but when compared to L’oreals £14 tiny offering, this is huge old bottle which makes the unit price seem a little better.

Would I repurchase this primer at full price? No, I’d like to try other brands from the high street. Would I buy it again on offer? Without shadow of a doubt. My make up lasted all day without any oxidisation, slip or dulling and it provided a flawless base for both my ‘dewy’ foundations as well as matte formulas which I often find cloying.

You can pick up the Revlon Photoready Perfecting Primer at any good Revlon concession stand.

Do you use a high street primer? What brand do you recommend I try next?
