San Lorenzo – Rickleton,Washington

San Lorenzo Rickleton Washington Review

If you are familiar with the area, you’ll well be able to remember the previous incarnations of the old pub in Rickleton village in Washington that San Lorenzo calls home.

Recently revamped, San Lorenzo leads the building in its current guise as a modern Italian restaurant.

Rossopomodoro – Newcastle

Rossopomodoro Newcastle Review

If you are of a certain age from Newcastle, you’ll remember the circular restaurant hovering above the centre of Eldon Square and then its subsequent move to a mezzanine terrace in the same spot. I am sadly old enough to remember the move to the terrace which is now the location of the all new restaurant in John Lewis – Rossopomodoro.

Fuego – Fenwicks, Newcastle

Fuego Fenwicks Newcastle

The all new glitzy glam Fenwicks Food Hall is a right posh affair. Boasting 3 restaurants, a cafe, a wine bar and a coffee bar, the new look layout is a playground for foodies so after spending a hell of a lot more than I intended to in there, we made our way to Fuego. An Italian focusing on pizzas and small plates.

Il Piccolo, Corbridge

Il Piccolo Corbridge

On a grim and grey Valentines Day, we found ourselves heading to Corbridge for a brisk walk, some gift shop browsing and of course lunch; which saw us heading to Il Piccolo Corbridge, a family run restaurant, café and deli tucked away off the main street.

A rustic décor was festooned with red hearts in perfect keeping with the day. There wasn’t a special themed lunch menu which suited us as we are a bit a anti V-Day!

Rosa Twelve, Low Fell

Rosa Twelve Low Fell

A Monday night in the post Valentine lull seemed like a great time for a dinner date at Rosa Twelve, a reasonably recent addition to the Low Fell dining line up. I had previously visited on a lunch time with work colleagues when it first opened and I was impressed with the pizzas, it was time to try something else!

A previous incarnation of the restaurant had been owned by old family friends but Rosa Twelve has firmly cemented itself on the scene with a fresh, modern, clean décor and a wide and exciting menu.

Not only is there a restaurant, you can also have a drink in the ground floor bar area or head downstairs to the Cicchetti bar for small dishes, nibbles and live music.
