I recently whisked my Mam away to Amsterdam for a weekend adventure to not only celebrate Mothers Day, but her 63rd Birthday which fell at the same time too.
We went on a DFDS Mini Cruise for £79 (£99 including transfers) and spent a few hours just wandering round central Amsterdam…. There’s not many words to go with this post… and not many photos either as we just enjoyed having some quality Mother Daughter time… and a few naughty giggles at the shop windows!

To keep the posts to a reasonable length, I thought I would break them down in to more bite size chunks.
First up, how we got to Utrecht.
If you remember my post about the Sunderland Air Show from a few weeks, you’ll be pleased to know that it also now appears on the DFDS Seaways blog.
When asked what my number 1 fear is, I say boats. Without shadow of a doubt. Does it stop me from experiencing new things? No, I have rode speedboats in Cuba, traversed the Rhine in a boathotel, Gondola’s in the Grand Canal and sailed around Manhattan – and hated every single minute of it. DFDS challenged me on my fear.
Taking the bull by the horns, the Sunderland Air Show sailing would be the perfect time to beat my fear once and for all. At 32 years old, if I can manage a day at sea, imagine the places I could go!
