Kate Moss for Rimmel – #12

I haven’t bought anything from Rimmel in such a long time and as such it’s been a brand that I generally overlook while make up shopping. I didn’t like any of the Kate Moss campaigns but I found myself browsing her lipstick release on the stand recently, and as Boots were offering a 3 for 2 on self serve cosmetics, I thought it would be rude not to try them out!

I did pick up 3 in total but the first one I want to focus on is #12. A rich and vibrant corally red colour which is highly pigmented and quite matte and leans slightly towards the red side of coral. I found the lipstick slightly drying on my lipstick, making it hard to work with and also slightly too smudgey (first application I ended up with most of it on my chin after 5 minutes- I don’t know how!!). From the bullet, the lipstick has a very soft scent of Dandelion & Burdock which was a bit of a surprise! It’s not overpowering and doesn’t linger on the lips.

With a very careful application and a clear balm on the top, this lipstick gives a striking pop of colour for the impending grey merky days ahead. It looks fab with a tan and would be a knockout colour for a night out, without being too OTT.

The lipstick is both pigmented and long lasting, it last longer if you don’t add some kind of moisturising layer over the top, but I found it quite uncomfortable to have dry lips for that long, and of course, licking them only exasperates the dryness! Even with a balm or gloss over the top, I got a good 4-5hrs noticeable wear out of one application with no cup transfer once it was fully dry. It did however end up all over my Go Ahead yoghurt covered breakfast bar! HA!

For £5.49, I think the pigmentation and quality is comparable with some higher end lipsticks such as MAC. The packaging certainly doesn’t have a high street feel to it, being very classic and minimal with only a small red signature from Kate. It reminds me of the MAC Emanual Ungaro line.

I’d recommend these lipsticks, as there seemed to be a shade to match most skin tones. I will show you the other 2 that I bought in following posts very soon but I think I might pop back to Boots and buy another 3!

Of course… I am pretending that Kate’s signature actually says Katie and that it’s my own personal lipsticks….. *whistles* yeah, I’m crazy! The rimmel lipstick is priced at £5.49 and you can buy it from all Rimmel stockists

Geordie girls are worth it says L’Oreal

Slightly biased post title there isn’t it!

No matter what your thoughts are on my fellow geordie girl Cheryl Cole, you cannot possibly dispute she has had an excellent rise to fame, culminating with being the hair (and face) of L’Oreal hair care!

It is also a bit of a perk that on the adverts she hasn’t been overly vocal-trained and she does still have her good old northern lilt to the famous “Because we’re worth it!”

L’Oreal are currently on a search to find 3 lovely ladies to join wor Chezza in the next adverts, so if you are a racy redhead, brilliant brunette or buxom blonde then why not apply and be famous!

Cast Yourself alongside Cheryl in the next L’Oréal Paris Casting Crème Gloss advert

L’Oréal Paris is looking for three girls to star in the next Casting Crème Gloss advert alongside spokesmodel, Cheryl Cole. From 31 October to 27th November, fans of Casting Crème Gloss will be able to cast themselves in the role of either: deep brunette, fiery redhead or honey blonde.

Wardrobe Wednesday – Steal the celebs style!

I’ve noticed lately a little bit of a mini resurgence of Peter Pan collars after they’d waned a little from the last blast, was it earlier this year? I’m trying to think now! Maybe they didn’t vanish but I did notice them missing from shops for a wee while.

Over the last few weeks, I’ve spotted more celebs wearing Peter Pan collared dresses. It totally reminds me of Alexa Chung and her cool laid back preppy (yet sometimes masculine) style.

Recently Fearne Cotton herself featured a Peter Pan collared dress in her line for Very.co.uk too. Tulisa from X factor has been spotted in one her self lately too, a very budget friendly Miss Selfridge version at £37!

Now not being your average size 10, I wondered how i’d be able to translate this trend to suit my shape and there, as usual, were Simply Be right on the edge of the trend with the Peter Pan Collar Dress (£40)

From my inspiration pictures, I took the black dress from Simply Be and made 2 outfits. I’d wear the black shoes and carry a little Gucci inspired quilted chain bag for work or more classically formal events while i’d whip out the awesome funky leopard print shoes and oversized clutch for a girly night out, christmas party or something similar. I’d most definitely wear thick black tights with both looks, which is different to all my inspiration pictures but it is winter after all!!

Happy Halloween! In honour of Halloween Hotties!

I love Halloween, it’s a perfect excuse to let the inner child AND inner goth out to play once a year… as opposed to my early twenties when I was a goth 24/7!

As I’m working a super super long day today I don’t get a chance to play dress up so it seems a bit of waste to dress up the house too.

We did settle on a little pumpkin that Mr Tramp took over with man duties and carved. He then unleashed the inner David Bailey in him to take some snaps!

When you think of Halloween figures, all the “good” characters are all men. In horror or spooky films, there’s a definite lack of iconic female roles! After spending a week thinking long and hard and grilling everyone I know, we have come up with a list of iconic Halloween hotties.. whether its from a scary horror film, a popular costume choice or just something spooky… here’s in the Ladyfromatramp Halloween Hotlist…

And finally, the most bad ass female icon I could remember growing up… the fearsome Sarah Connor from Terminator (which I was a little bit frightened of!)
