Gentleman’s Afternoon Tea – The Vermont Hotel, Newcastle

Gentlemans Afternoon Tea The Vermont Hotel Newcastle

As it is officially Afternoon Tea Week, I thought I’d share with you a new twist on the standard offering from The Vermont Hotel. The Gentleman’s Afternoon Tea (£19.95) focuses more on the savoury side of the event and as I don’t have a sweet tooth, let me tell you, I bloody loved it.

The Three Horseshoes – Washington, Sunderland

The Three Horseshoes Washington Review

After having a huge renovation, the stalwart boozer, The Three Horseshoes, that has been tucked away hidden beside the Nissan Factory has bounced back and is ready to put itself on the gastro pub map of the North East.

With well appointed rooms above the bar,  the open plan dining area and bar is light and airy. A pleasant change to what it was. Keeping it local, they stock both Sonnet43 beers and Poetic License gin.

We hadn’t been in around 10yr so we visited to put the all new menu through its paces.

Lefty O’Douls, San Francisco

If anyone ever asks for somewhere to get some cheap but good quality food in San Francisco, Lefty O’Douls is our first tip!

This has a bit of cult status amongst us and our friends as we first visited on our honeymoon 10yr ago and have raved about it ever since.

Jesmond Dene House – Newcastle

Early Evening Menu Jesmond Dene House Review

One of my favourite places to dine in Newcastle is Jesmond Dene House. Whether it is for a formal meal, light lunch or even just a coffee, it always hits the spot and the service is second to none.

The grand hotel has increased its dining options by recently introducing a fixed price early evening special menu with an incredibly reasonable 2 courses for £20.50 and 3 for £24.50 5pm – 7pm.

White Monk Tea Room – Blanchland

White Monk Tea Room Blanchland Review

This is a revisit review for us today of the White Monk Tea Room. As one of our all time favourite places to go for a drive and a bit of fresh air, Blanchland is not only the prettiest little place you ever did see, but they also have a cracking tea room AND a very nice pub.
