A mere 20 minutes outside the hubbub of Newcastle City Centre sits Matfen Hall. A well-established luxury hotel and wedding venue in the region not only does a pretty snappy Pink Afternoon Tea, they host it in their 2 AA Rosette Library restaurant.
The heat wave England is currently enduring is nothing compared to our visit to Furnace Creek Ranch. Death Valley is listed as the hottest place on earth and let me tell you, it was. Our little bit of oasis in the fierce heat was Furnace Creek Ranch and their pool!

Tucked away in the George Washington Hotel, Carter & Fitch is a new heavy hitter on the South of Tyne dining scene. Given the size of Washington and the captive audience of hotel guests, restaurants have always been lacking in the area.
This is where the £500,000 investment in the dining venue starts to earn its keep.
One of the absolute highlights of our road trip, will be our visit to Madonna Inn in California. Sitting slap bang between San Francisco and Los Angeles, this mecca for all things pink and kitsch has been on my bucket list for years now and I couldn’t be happier to check it off.
