The Bridge Tavern, Newcastle

The Bridge Tavern Newcastle

After a long bracing walk along the Quayside, what would be better than a hot tasty Sunday roast? We headed to The Bridge Tavern to fill up on home cooked comfort food.

The Bridge Tavern is quite unassuming from the outside, hiding in the shadows of the Tyne Bridge but don’t let that stop you from heading in.

A great selection of craft beers and home cooked food will greet you, along with the light and airy space inside. Tables get snapped up pretty quickly so i’d recommend booking in advance if you are wanting to enjoy a meal.

We always wing it and as long as you have a pre-booked table back to them in time, you’re usually ok.

A Sunday roast was the only reason we popped in to The Bridge Tavern recently so we only had our eyes on that prize. A well done beef and a pork ordered, we didn’t have long to wait before our food arrived.

Presented with deliciously crispy roasties and all the veg on the plate (my preference!), the classic Yorkshire Puddings were giant. We were amused by the whole carrot per person. The meat was spot on and the portion size for £11.95 was good for city centre. We certainly didn’t have room for dessert nor left hungry.

The Bridge Tavern is usually my first call for a Sunday roast as it is one of the best in the city centre. You can’t go wrong with the good portions of home cooked food. There’s also a vegetarian menu option each week too for the roast.

Where is your favourite place for a Sunday roast?
