When a brand that is synonymous with nail polish brings out a Limited Edition Lip Kit that is being heralded as a Kylie dupe, you know I had to check it out! The 3 new Barry M Matte Me Up Lip Kit’s (£6.99) are available exclusively to Boots + Superdrug so I picked a couple up to test them out.
Most people probably know Barry M for their excellent value range of nail polishes and dazzle dusts. God I used to collect those bad boys back in the day!
A few years ago I ended up getting a gift with purchase of a glittery red lipgloss from Barry M and it was quite possibly the best lip gloss that has ever existed. Of course it wasn’t permanent and I lost it ( Boo!) but I was thoroughly impressed with their lip gloss.
Would this hyped Kylie Jenner dupe really live up to my expectations? Yes, it did.
Runway is my favourite of the 3 Barry M Matte Me Up Lip Kits. A raspberry brown shade, it would look good on any skin tone as it is flattering for most. The kits include a lip liner and a matching Matte Me Up liquid lipstick which definitely draws comparisons to the more famous counterpart. At around £15 cheaper than the Kylie version, I know which one I would buy!
The lip liner is rich and creamy and doesn’t drag as it applies. Liner drawn, the liquid lipstick effortlessly glides on top. An almost water like texture, the formula is a dream to apply over lip liner or on its own. With it being quite watery, you can really get up to your lip line for that sharp finish.
Once dry, the Barry M Matte Me Up Lip Kit is a true matte that is lightweight to wear. I can almost feel the lip liner more than the liquid lipstick. Worn on it’s own there’s minimal transfer and it feels comfortable for a few hours before the lips feel a little dry. It did however accentuate some chapping on my lips that I didn’t even know was there but all liquid lipsticks do that!
I am thoroughly impressed with the quality for the price. The bright red Matte Me Up is on my wish list next!

OMG the Runway lip kit is the one that I’ve had my eye on… I’d love to get my hands on it too, but no Barry M over here in France ! The last time I went to London I snatched a single liquid matte lipstick from Barry M in the shade Pop Up and OMG… it’s one of my best liquid matte lipsticks ! It’s a mix of red and pink, bright but not too bright and just perfect for the summer ! 😀
Oh. Now I want to get the Runway one too. Dammit ! Hahaha
