Despite being a sister hotel to the busy Malmaison, the Hotel Du Vin excellent Sunday lunch is often overlooked.

With an intimate and exclusive vibe, we headed along to sample their delights.

Hotel Du Vin Sunday Lunch Review

I love the Hotel Du Vin full stop. I always feel a little bit fancy pants when I go. Whether it is for lunch, an event or even just a coffee in the courtyard, the small boutique hotel feel makes me feel welcome and looked after.

For a £22.95 for a set 4 course Sunday lunch, you are spoiled for choice. A fresh soup, the laden market table, a main course and a pudding. Delicious.

There’s an excellent sommelier on hand to help you with wine pairings and knowledgable bar staff to talk you through the selection of beers. The husband is always pleased to see the Wylam selection!

On to the food – I rarely order the soup as the market table is my favourite. Bursting with crisp salads,  charcuterie meats, fresh seafood and the most delicious selection of fresh breads. My mouth is watering just thinking about it now!

For main course, you have your usual selection of roasts with all the trimmings, both a pie and fish of the day as well as even a burger if that tickles your fancy.

I’m a creature of habit – prawns with warm bread, beef (well done) and then the cheese with a coffee outside whatever the weather. If it ain’t broken…..

If you are looking for a special occasion Sunday Lunch or just a nice treat on a grim grey winters day, head to the Hotel for impeccable service and top notch delicious food.

It would be nice to see a concessionary price for people who just want a main course but I feel the full 4 course extravaganza is the way to go.

We love it there too but I feel like I could just do the main OR the market table so I agree a concessionary price would be good. It’s such a treat though, so much food I’m bursting when I leave. We much prefer the hotel du vin one to the malmaison too.

We wanted to take my Grandma but she’d only just manage a main, as much as I love it, I couldn’t justify the price for 1 course
