Dermalogica Charcoal Rescue Masque

Dermalogica Charcoal Rescue Masque Review

From time to time, our skin needs a good old pick me up and pamper. Whether it is adding extra moisture to your routine or a good clarifying masque to get back to basics. This is what I have been using the Dermalogica Charcoal Rescue Masque (£38) for – a skin boost.

The thick grey gloop looks a little daunting before you apply it, but thanks to the Volcanic ash and charcoal, the application process introduces a very light exfoliation to the skin before the other active ingredients get to work and do their thing.

The charcoal draws out impurities from the skin while the volcanic ash, bamboo extract, sea silt and hydroxy acids provide the dual action exfoliation – manual and chemical. Other goodies decrease congestion and calm the skin.

Applying the masque is quite easy but I like to use a thin layer as I find it really hard to get the stubborn dried edges off. The masque sets quite quickly and feels firm on drying without pulling at the skin. I focus it more on the areas of my skin where the surface is less than stellar like my jaw, the sides of my face and my cheekbones.

I take the opportunity to read a magazine and check up on emails while I relax with the masque on. It is probably the only 10 minutes I get to myself all week.

The results….for me but there’s a lessening of the angry redness on my cheeks and what I am left with is my skin but better. Like the bulb on the inside has been turned up and left me with soothed skin. I can’t think of how else to describe it but I do know it is excellent and I wouldn’t be without it now. I have whizzed my way through the tube rather quickly as I have been making everyone else try it too.

Have you ever tried a charcoal masque before?
