Tucked away in a modern residential development, The Staiths Cafe is a jewel in it’s crown. With a stunning view over the iconic, listed Staiths on the banks of the River Tyne, the cafe is a great place to relax away from the hustle and bustle of city centre life.
To match the modern exterior, the inside is a nod to contemporary design with clean stark white walls and industrial-esque tables and chairs. The large wood and metal floating staircase dominates the downstairs space.
We visited at lunch time on a Saturday and after a nice brisk walk along the riverside, we were rewarded with a steaming mug of tea and a tasty little cheesecake supplied fresh from Simply Cheesecake.
With late night opening hours (until 10pm) you can refuel yourself morning, noon and night. From big breakfasts to lunch time soups and pizza and kebab night specials.
It certainly is my new favourite place to call in for a coffee….. it’s always good to support local business rather than chains! The outdoor space will be a godsend when the weather picks up a little more!
